RT series

What are the RT series speakers, are they an older version of the RTi series? I have seen some RT25 on ebay, and just wondering if they would be a good match for RTi speakers.

    Yes. First came the RTXXX, then RTXXXi and now RTiXXX.

    I really like the tri laminate and soft dome tweeters on the older RT speakers.

    I hope there isnt a 6th RT line....

    What else can they do to it...

    They could offer them in pink, or make them different shapes. I'm thinking a tuba shape would be in order.

    BTW, I like the RT5's best of all of them sound wise. By looks, I like the cherry veneer on the newer models.

    Why not offer them in SDA?

    Actually we're already there if you count the S series. Came out before RT but they're pretty much RT without ARC or Power Port.

    The S series was a R series line.

    Cheap cabinets. No special technology. Stripped down basically.

    Considered R series in the big picture.

    Forgot about the 7's. I happen to like those very much as well, just haven't had a lot of listening time with them. When I did have them at mhy house, they were being played against my LSi7's and they performed very admirably. If I remember correctly, the RT7's are one of Russ's favorite Polks.

    The S series came out before R. From what I remember, the S series eveolved into RT and then the R was produced after RT. The S series have excellent sound. Very close to the RT. Much better than R series IMO.

    That's cool. I bet the 7's had a more lively sound? I think they are Russ's favorite. He's got 4 watts/ch of tube power going into them right now. Lucky ****!

    I'm listening to a pair of 15i on tubes. Crazy imaging from these little puppies.

    S series is in the R series perspective though....

    A BIG step backwards LOL:D. The SRT is the BIG mommy of RT and I doubt even the RTi12 can touch them.

    Thanks for the feedback guys, I take it that any RTs that I can get a good deal on ebay should work well with my current speakers.

    They better not get rid of the rti series, they are polk's bread and butter, the best speakers in the price range. I found my rti10's better than Definitive tech's 7002 (2200$ a pair). There is so much technology in these to get ride of (most if it is for the better...). I would think the idea of four lines would be awsome, an R series, RTi, Lsi, and Bring Back the true SDA.

    Russ, if you ever come across a single RT400, I can hook you up with another one. I bought one open box at CC about 5 years ago(a little north of Dallas if I remember correctly) to use as a center channel. Ended up finding a single 35 to center for my RT5's at the time.

    Well, I know where the other one was. It was at the CC here in Knoxville. That's how I came to know about this particular model. I saw the single and wondered what the hell it was. I ended up finding a pair and never bought the single at CC. I went back later to see if it was still there because I had a busted (not blown) tweeter but it was gone.

    I am going to have to say that is almost impossible...

    Now you may think as far as value - the RTi series is better. But there just isnt any way the RTi series is better then the 7000 series, especially when the 10 year old BP passive line walks line in line with it (and in my opinion, surpasses the RTi line)...

    The 7000 line is right there with the LSi line my friend, take away the subwoofers they sport and they are amazing speakers...

    Chances are you heard them in-store or in a place that had them setup WRONG, which is a COMMON case for bipolar speakers...

    You are welcome to come to my home anytime... get a nice good demo of some bipolarish sound... ;)

    Enjoy da spooks, the RTi10 are great in the price range.

    Technology is speakers is kind of pointless in some sense, yes - better technology is better... but Polks speakers from day 1, in some peoples opinion is far better than their current line... and they really...contain almost no technology...

    I personally like that approach.

    And who is it to say if Polk discontinues the RTi line that they wont come out with a new, better line from scratch that can be its new bread and butter? I mean... I dunno..
