Going to Fiji!

Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone on this forum has been to Fiji. I'm taking off next month to spend about 5 weeks there. It's going to be nice getting out of Alaska during the peak of the winter. I'll be doing the whole backpacker/budget thing and am looking to not spend a lot of money on accomodations. Any recommendations from folks that have been there would be great!

It's truly an awesome place, especially if you can spend time with the native culture there and do some of the day to day activities with them. It's just a completely different world than what we're used to. We have things they've never even heard of, let alone could ever even dream of. Then again, things may have changed over the years.
