Just what we need................................more government intrusion.

I wish they would let us get back to our roots.

    Think about this thought....

They say a SINGLE trumpet is said to play at 130db. Try to reproduce that in your home system (cleanly). Holy shee-at!!!

    Can someone say SRT?

    >>"I wish they would let us..."

It's a shame that we (the U.S.) have allowed our gov't to grow so big that we now look to them to "let us" do... whatever.

The Constitution was set up to put limits on the government, not its citizenry. Our founders knew the dangers of an all-too-big government running out of control. Hence the Constitution.
Too bad we've allowed that document to be bastardized over the past century; meanwhile, we lose our freedoms one by one... so slowly and quietly (thanks to congress and the media) that we hardly notice.

We've allowed them to take over the education system, and they've successfully brainwashed our kids into a "new awareness," nevermind the fact that a high school education is now laughable. I'll put my high school diploma of the 80's against any 2-, or even 4-year degree since.

Oh, yeah... and 83db is SQUAT to a 100-piece orchestra in a concert hall. Not to mention a rock band.

Hey... I'm a lead trumpet player in a professional clownband playing a large-bore, very free blowing Holton Maynard Ferguson Horn. It doesn't get much louder than that.

The band has approximately 15 other members.
When I decide to crank it (really push) in the high regester, I can easily cut through the entire band and clearly establish myself as the primary lead musician.

When I crank-it on... say... a football field, People 100 yards away from me have NO PROBLEM hearing every note clearly (without straining). I sometimes hear echo's of skyscrapers (downtown) delayed SEVERAL SECONDS after popping a stinger-type note above High C - way cool (assuming I don't crack the note - thats way embarassing).

Remember, this is a VERY LOUD clownband. When we perform at State Fairs, people way back in the crowd often cover their ears.
By the way, MICAH AND JUSTIN, our band will be playing at the San Diego (Delmar) fair from June 29th thru July 4th. Perhaps Polk would like to help sponsor us (good family advertising www.clownband.com)? We are "good enough" that we are being flown out from Indiana to play in Southern California - that says something. Come see us !

Anyway, occasionally, I'll be running a little late to practice (or something) and I'll get the opportunity to hear our band (less me) and I have to admit.... Not even a Polk SRT speaker system can come remotely close to our sound. It has to be experienced live.

I've never put a sound meter in front of my trumpet. I guess that I'm just glad that I get to stand (safely) behind the trumpet when I play <grin>.

Well, I haven't liked loud car stereos since I was in my teens, so that doesn't hold water.

    It's a larger issue though.

Laws are in place for those who don't grasp the concept of the responsibilities inherent in living in a free society.

Noise laws applied to car stereos: good.
Noise laws applied to public music performances: bad.

It's a delicate balance, this freedom thing.
