Ok thanks. i wasn't sure. my friend is wrong again. :D

He claimed that the AX7 could be swapped out.. for the 6DJ8. saying the AX7 provided more detail. and that the 6DJ8 was more laid back. Pfftttt! he's insane.. and now I have proof of it.

    thanks Al

Wow. He obviously has NO idea what he's talking about.

How many 12ax7's does your DAC take? What do you have in it now? I could send you some different stuff to try out, if you felt inclined.

LOL If Russ sends you some Telefunken smooth plates, be prepared to **** your pants.

    Don't say I didn't warn you:).

    You're using Mullard now, right?

Maurice and Russ, I am using Mullard tubes right now. I'm just curious if and what would happen to the sound with a different brand of tubes. The Mullards are nice and pleasing. but there is always the doubt in my mind that they are really any good at all.

I'll see what I have. Mullards rank right up at the top of my list, for 12AX7's. I've got plenty of Telefunken Smooth plates, I'll get a little batch together for you.

LOL:D. It wasn't so bad before, then Noel got his tubed cdp. That made everything worse.

    Al,
Let us know what you think of the tubes. The Tele is my favorite X7. I think you'll be surprised by the amount of clean tight bass they put out.
