Time for a rest

I finally found the time to sit down for an hour or so and send a few e-mails and listen to a little music. We recently moved into our new house and with work, moving, and a 6 year old, it has been a crazy month. I finally have that dedicated room (18.5 ft X 14.5 ft) to listen to some tunes and watch a few good flciks. I have always wanted a dedicated room and we were fortunate enough to find a place that had such a room.

On that note, it will not take long to upgrade the system. I am quite content with the HT component (will proably add a SVS sub) of my system, but now I have the space to really get into some quality 2 CH music. As you have heard me say in the past, I long for some better speakers. Alas, I have outgrown the system I have, but will retain it for HT. It has been a great year and I could not have accomplished my audio experiments without the assistance of many of you. Thanks a lot.

On the list is a pair of Proac Response D38's and these will grace the new room in 2006. The question will then arise, what gear to use with those beautiful speakers (cables, cpd, amp, pre-amp). This will take some time. As many of you know, living in Yellowknife is difficult to evaluate equipment due to the lack of audio stores (2 only). I do have some business travel scheduled for January 2006 as I will be in Vancouver for 1 1/2 weeks and hope to hook up with some of the Polk people in the Van area. Should be a good trip.

I hope all of you folks have a wonderful safe and happy holiday season. I know that I will be requesting additional tips & feedback as I enter into Stage Two of my audio venture. Thanks for a great year, have a good one, and all the best to everyone in 2006.
Michael ;)

    Outstanding.

I'm anxiously awaiting the day I come across a pair of Proac, to demo for a year or so myself. Don't sweat the back end, plenty of deals to be had around here, when the time approaches.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Good to hear you're somewhat settled in the new house. Isn't moving fun!?!

    Thanks for the encouragement Russ.
Jesse, I don't know about you, but this may be my last move. Hope you are settled in as well.

    Just feel the love...

    Michael,
Glad you survived the move. In three or four months I should be feeling your pain...
    More later,
    Tour...

Now that you mention it Bruce, you aren't getting any younger......

Dibs on the Sunfire gear. The DQ-10's and I wouldn't mind getting those AR-3a's back.

I told my wife "4 acre minimum" to get me to load another truck--and I'm serious. I won't move into another subdivision, gotta be some land next time.

Forget "buddy" ,once the adoption paperwork is finalized with Wendi my biggest worry will be how to address Troy, "Pop" or "Dad" coming from a 41 year old may be a bit awkward... :)

I know I have at least one more move. As soon as the kids are gone we're going to sell the house we've been in for 19 years and build a really nice house. Not necessarily bigger...just all the bells and whistles we want.

Why...because we can afford it...THEN. I figure two kids in college, their expenses, insurance, gas, food etc.. is costing me $35,000 - $40,000 per year (after taxes) MINIMUM! That and the wife is considering going back to work (she became a stay home mom 15 years ago and is a little bored now the kids are grown up) and we figure in her field she can probably make another $40,000+. All we know for sure is that it will have a really big SOTA kitchen and a SOTA mancave/HT/music room (and a pool - can't give up my pool). Everything else is TBD. So I guess we will give the architect the job of designing a house around a kitchen and HT and pool. It should be fun! :D

True, but on the plus side, you'd get to call Wendi "Mama"...
