Can that thing be customized to work a Tivo? Or is it just a learning remote for those types of functions?

    Brett,

You can assign pretty much any function to any button, a simple answer would be "yes".

The Harmony remotes do have a learning function, but the online programming is easier. If I know the Tivo's model number, I can check to see what actual functions are available on the remote.

It let me choose to control a Tivo for that model remote, in the demo walkthrough on their web site.

I think the Harmony 676/675 has quick buttons specifically for Tivo.

    Zach,

My brother has the following equipment:

TV - Toshiba 32" flat screen( could not find a model number on the unit or my product information)
TIVO - Samsung Direct TV DVR SIR-s4040r
    DVD - Sony DVP-NC600
    Receiver - Sony - STR-K502
    VCR - Sharp VC - H992

I'm sure most any function for the standards (TV, DVD, VCR Receiver) will be fine, but let me know when you get a chance how/what he has to do to get the Tivo functional (the main features he wanted to know about were Live TV, Info, and Guide buttons).

    Thanks for your help.....

Thug....I'm getting on a plane tomorrow early afternoon to Vegas for the week on business, but will be checking the forum throughout the day. If Zach can check the functionality of the remote with those functions, I can send you the money for the remote either by mail or Paypal.....whichever you prefer.

    Brett,

I messed around with the Harmony website and it looks like the remote will work fine. The Tivo button can be assigned to one of the buttons beside the lcd screen.

The two options I am given initially are: "Do you have the original remote" & "no original remote"

Harmony has a deep database, however some components may require some "extra" learning on the remote's part.

However, since I was able to set it up fine without the original remote, I think it will work just fine.
