Buying a new sub..

I have a freind that works at bb. hes allowing me to use his discount if i wnat to buy the Klipsh 12" sub. curious if people have tried it, what they think? i dont know if i can pass up the price...

id ask the klipsh forum but i know the answer id get so im looking for an impartial review. i havent had a chance to hear it yet but plan to this week...

Looks like a lateral move. Your Velo ought to sound just as good, if not better.

Those klipsh subs are mostly all rumble and no "real" base. I almost bought one about a year ago but they are not crisp or clear. Please do not buy one. I dont know if I would even use one if I got it for half price.

Actually the Sub 10 and 12 are a big improvement from the KSW series. I was impressed with the Sub 10 in my room for a couple of weeks. That being said, I think it's a lateral move too.

if i did buy it i would run both, not replace the velo. am i wasting money if i buy it?

i guess my real question is how much benifet will i gain from running a second sub?

Adding a 2nd Sub will give you more headroom, due to less strain on the amps. It will also give you up to a 6db gain in output, if co-located. If not, then placement and cancellation issues are problematic. Once setup correctly, you'll have an output bonus and should get a more even bass response. Could be tricky, could be fairly easy.

I co-located a 2nd XSub this weekend, probably picked up a couple of hz in extention and the output gain. Very nice.
