DirecTV HD-Tivo Receiver

I was looking into getting a High Def receiver, and was wondering what ya'll thought of Direct's HD-Tivo one? I'm getting into recording ballgames on TV and would like to record them in Hi-Def. I also want to make hard copies of some of the games so I was thinking, maybe I should just get the basic HD receiver and then buy a seperate DVD recorder. Any Suggestions?

DTV-HD-Tivo - two thumbs up!
you can call DirecTV customer retention and order one with 2 year commitments, for $299 - $100 rebate.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -
I'd wait until the first of the year when the model swith Mpeg 4 decoding come out...

I thought they will send previous owner a new one gratis, when MPEG4 version shipped? Am I smoking weed?I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -
I don't know - they wouldn't even give me the discount as a current customer, so whatever that says...and I'm not even currently under a contract with them, you'd think they'd offer that to get my business for another couple years...

I got the HD Tivo a couple months back on the 299.00 deal, I use it all the time, don't know how I did without it actually, I rarely ever watch Live TV anymore, just Season Pass everything and watch it a day late without sitting through commercials.
I talked to DirecTV and they said they are going to grandfather in those customers that have this system to the New..of course I don't have this in writing...who knows..

Smalltown,
The HD Tivo is awesome. Go for it! I'm also like Scott, don't know how I lived without it before.
One thing to consider: Don't expect to be able to make hardcopies of programming in HD. It doesn't work like that. You have to play it back and output to one of the standard definition outputs and record it in real time, so a 3 hour game will take 3 hours to "back up".For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -
Thanks for all the replies, I'll be getting mine soon.
