I know I read about this once before but I'll ask again anyway! What tap should I run my SDA-SRS from on my power amp? It seems to me they are 6 ohm so do I go down to the 4 ohm tap or up to the 8 ohm tap??
Thanks as always!

4 ohm.

I believe the SDA-SRSs are rated at a nominal impedence of 4 ohms anyways.
Other interesting ratings in case one has forgotten:
Frequency response - 10 Hz- 26,000Hz
Crossover Frequency - 45 Hz and 2000Hz
Max output level - 125dB
Effiiciency - 93dB -
There's a couple different nom imp's quoted for the SRS's. Some state 6 ohm, my manual states 5 ohm.More later,

What else is new with Polk and their model lines?
Lets see, original SDA-SRSs... they were made in '85, '86, '87, '88... I only have spec sheets dated '86, '87, and '88. At least the sheets I have all have them at 4 ohms and is what I was going by. Doesn't make it written in stone though as we have found sometimes. -

Hum. My owners manual says 6 ohms. But then again when I removed my cross over to have a look it didn't look much like the ones pictured in the upgrade thread, so maybe Matthew changed things as he went along? -
Hey Bob,
Actually I meant to type 4-ohm, not 6 in my initial reply...
jfb,
6-ohm came into play when the 1.2's came along. Regardless, 4, 5, or 6-ohm, the 4-ohms taps are the ones to use.
Had I noticed your posts sooner, I'd have looked you up. I've been sitting in Parma for the past week.
EDIT: 4-ohm tap, not 6-ohm...More later,

Parma! Sorry we didn't hook up! I work in Downtown Cleveland...not to far from Parma. But still my owners manual says 6 Ohms! -

Now you got me thinking and that's not good! I'm going to have to dig out my owners manual when I get home and reread the specs! Either way my amps all are 2 ohm, 4 ohm or 8 ohm so the 4 ohm tap is still my best bet? -
Yup... Even for 8-ohm speakers, many folks perfer using the lowest ohm outputs their amp has...
What amp are you running?More later,

Right now I'm running my vintage McIntosh MC2205 but my main amp is a MC7270. Just a bit newer and a lot more balls! -
I dug out my owners manual and it say's 5 ohms not 6! I guess my memory is really shot!

Not like 5-ohm is a common impedance rating...

Your lucky to be out of here! Snow and cold are the rule of the day. Did I mention COLD?
The good to come out of all this is messing around trying various hook ups I found my IC between the pre and amp was messed up. New cables in place and no more problems man! To think I swapped every piece and some twice because of a stupid cable! These dang amps tip the scales at like 80 lbs and my old back aint what it used to be! -

My manual doesn't even call it "impedance", it calls it plain old "D.C. Resistance"
5 Ohms
I'm kinda mad, cause I had the manual in a box, which for some reason I put in my truck, so it got a bit damp and got kinda moldy on me. Oh well, at least the speakers are shiny!
