WTB Snowboard Bindings - what to look for?

little story - can just skip to question ;)

Well now that the mountain is open I've been doing a lot of snowboarding lately. This is pretty much my first season and it's damn fun so far. The bindings I'm using right now are hand-me-downs from a friend and I've always sort of had a problem where they would move when I bail really hard. This wasn't a big deal until now... they've become so stripped that on my first bail today they just went totally loose and I could easily twist both my feet. This both sucks because I can't ride well as well as being very dangerous.

Since my friend is a C ticketed welder we popped by his house tonight and tried to tack them in place... no luck there as they seem to be aluminum and it's a pain in the **** to get ahold of a tig welder for this purpose.

I was hoping we'd be able to tack them in place and that they'd last until I can wait for some boxing day sales to buy new bindings but it looks like that won't happen. I simply can't let my winter holidays go to waste because of crapped out bindings.

end of story

So after all that my question is.... what should I be looking for in bindings? I've been told some brands to check out are salomon, burton and drake. I don't really need to spend a whole lot but I don't want crap that will need to be replaced soon. I think I'll be trying to keep it around $100 but I could go as high as $150 if it's really necessary. (in my measly canadian dollars :p - 85-130 usd* )

My board is a crappy Morrow... to be honest I really don't know what style it is. I don't race or anything - just kind of go up with friends to have a good time, goof around and hit jumps :p . My boots are 04 sims future so I belive they would be the soft molded snowboard boots you're talking about. They're size 10 and I'm 5' 9" and 130 lbs if that helps with anything.

My board is shown near the bottom of this thread ~ link ~ I don't plan on keeping this board for too long. I'll be riding it for a little while but it definatly needs replacing soon.

Any other info I can give you to help in picking something that would work well with me?

What do you think of these - 05 Drake F50. I'm open to buying old stock, slightly used ones or brand new. The only requirement is that I get them fairly quickly since I can't ride until I get them.

Little bump here... It turns out that I won't be able to get Drake's locally. I can get them off ebay but it's going to make me loose a couple weeks of riding.

Has anyone dealt with Burton Custom's? It seems I can get those locally for around $200 cdn... not the most ideal price but I'm desperate here.

From what I've heard the Drake's are awesome but they weigh a bit more than the Burton's.

Okay, I'm probably talking to myself here but I bought bindings today. I manged to get 2006 Burton Custom's for $150 (~130 us) locally. Went to the store with the intention of spending on $200 on the '05's and turns out they had the 06's in stock. Also happens that I know about 10 people that work at the store so I had one of them use their employee discount to get me 25% off. Gotta love saving $60 on bindings that never go on sale

This way I don't have to let my winter break off of school waste away while I'm waiting for a package from ebay. I'll be riding the mountain tomorrow morning... lets hope these work well ;)

btw I got them in black... the buckles in gold look a bit cheesy but everything else matches what I wear - black, black and more black :)
