Chevy Silverado add

I just got in the January edition of Motor Trend, and it has a cool Chevy ad just inside the cover. It seems as though they have a new 'technology' which they've labled 'Vortec Max'. Sounds a lot meaner than the old 'Vortec', huh? :p I won't post all of it, but there's a section (it's a full, two-page spread) entitled HEMI BEATER. :D Gotta love that....here's an excerpt from it...
HEMI BEATER. Chevy Trucks, the most dependable, longest-lasting trucks on the road, require more than raw, naked power -although, with a HEMI-beating 380 lb.-ft. of torque, there's plenty of that to go around.

The Vortec Max 6000 (available in 2006 Silverado half-ton crews and extended cabs) makes 345hp @ 5200 rpm....and 380 lb-ft!! That's pretty cool.

To wrap it up, the ad says, "Last question. Do you want a truck? Or do you want The Truck?"

:D

Yeah, thatll be real cool when the 6.1 Hemi comes out with 425 hp and 420 torque. Top that off with the 610 torque from the Cummins and the Chevy is back in 3rd place again.

Hey, watch it now. Do you think Dodge is going to put that 6.1L Hemi in a half-ton pick-up? I don't know, I'm asking. And the 2006 Duramax offers 360hp @ 3200 and 650lb-ft @ 1600. Lemme say that again...650 pound-feet of torque at 1600 rpm!! Top that with Dodge or Ford. I don't think that's gonna happen. At least not for 2006.

Ill put the Cummins up against any diesel out there. It is the only one that is built for medium duty trucks and then de-tuned for the Ram. The others are not, theyre built specifically for the light duty pickups. Thats why the Cummins has a design life to overhaul of 350,000 miles versus the 200,000 miles of the other 2.

Hehe. Good point. Ford's 'Cammer' SOHC 427 from the 60's had hemispherical shaped combustion chambers.

The Cummins 5.9 in the Dodge Ram is severly underrated. I dont know why but it is. Every test in every magazine Ive ever seen it makes about 100 more torque at the rear wheels than its rated. So Id bet the 5.9 is making about 700.
