REVIEW: Polk Lsi9

I just have to say, with the needles peaking at 900 watts mine were open and live with no form of compression or loss of soundstage.

It is strange, but I gotta say that if those pups require that kind of wattage, there's not much of a "satisfied" market there. Most people who run that kind of power have large rooms and floorstanders, and most likely like their music LOUD. They're not going to **** around with a bookshelf. If I can't successfully run an Lsi9 (or any bookshelf) with a good quality 215watt/channel power amp, I'm not the least bit interested in the speaker. There's too many others that will run harder, better, and easier for less $$.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

I think your amp is loosing it with the low impedence.

That's a possibility, the 9's dip to 2 ohms in some freq's. In either case, it's good thing to alert possible buyers about.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

Yes, any buyer of the 9's needs to plan on a good high current amplifier capable of 2 ohm operation.

Then again, it could just be compression.

Hello! Everyone I just purchased a pair of lsi9. I was wondering if my Carver m500t amp would be to much for these speakers. @ 4ohms 350 watts.
I only plan on listing at medium volume. If you could reply. Thanks Brad -
Sounds like about what I would want with them. Admittedly, that is a bit on the high side. But don't turn it wide open and I think you'll be sittin' pretty.George Grand wrote: »

Shouldn't be a problem they need lots of high current power to really make 'em sing which your M500t can supply

I ran my LSi7's (and now LSi15's) with my 500 wpc Cinepro. No issues at all. When things start to collapse, turn it down. (soundstage, imaging, etc all become very 2 dimentional)
I have never had any issues.

Thanks to everyone for the fast respones and info. I can't wait to get my lsi9's and when I do i will let you guys know what I think. Thanks again Brad
-
Does any body know if they made any change to the speaker because mine cones are dark gray and on the box there was a yellow sticker saying new lsi9. But other wise the speakers are great. I'm bi-wiring them right know, but tonight I'm going to try bi-amping them. So I will let you guys know how that sounds.
Thanks Brad -
The cones should be a dull bluish gray with a black dustcap and surround. Do you have any pictures of them? Where did you buy them from?
-
I took a pic on my digital camra the speakers do look like a dull blue color.
Thats wierd they don't look blue when you look at them.
The speakers are from Sound Professionals
