Ok, Just tried some more tuning. Reversed polarities on the tweeters. I liked them better the other way. Then I look a look over to my rear speakers. Since my entire system is actively x'ed over except for the rear speakers whihc are running off the front mid channel, but have the original db xovers on them. I looked at this thread: http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21469
And decided to try them in the "B" position. Too much mid range. Lets just say now I know why you should ONLY go with a front stage..heheh. Put them back on "A". Now I am wondering...does these xovers also have a high pass for the mids?
According to xover spec, I am probably going to start playing around with the low pass for my front mids since the factory setting would be 3500 @ 6db. My radio only gives me 3.15k, 4k.

PS, these sr tweeters are broken in. They are simply amazing. Makes me wish I was more patient and not have bought the rainbows...trying to sell those now :(

    The mids are low passed.

I tried fidgetting with polarity as well. Both tweets out of phase, one tweet out of phase and so on. Honestly I noticed zero difference. At first I thought there was but the more I listened to it I couldnt pick it out.

I just leave all mine in phase now and tune with the gains and tweeter attenuation.

I want an EQ now. I used to poo poo them but now I want one. I would like to get a good head unit with a good EQ in it. At least a 7 band.

For tuning Mac, the upper end Eclipse HU's have a great EQ section. They also have pretty flexible x-overs if you want to run an active front stage. You can wait to see what they, as well as other companies come out with at the CES. This time also presents opportunities to get a nice current model head unit at a good price. I got a good deal on my HU.

Im seriously considering an Elcipse. They do seem to have the best tuning features.

Not worried about the crossover. The SR's crossover is top notch and also looks damn good so Ill be sticking with that.

The CD8455 and CD8445 are pretty close. The 8455 adds the ability to have an active 3way setup, a more flixible EQ section, and it includes the microphone for measuring you frequency response (useful to tune the system). It also lets you fine tune the T.A. thing (I now you wont use this, just letting you know :) ).

Ok, nevermind what I said above about switching the A-B settings and it sounding like poo. Any system will sounld like that if the rcas to the tweeters accidently get disconnected. :o

Hmmm, if the xovers are only low passed, then I probably dont need these on the rears.

Dunno, for my old db's im pretty sure they sounded better out of phase, but considering these sr's have a phase plug on the tweeter, that could probably be the reason why to me they sound better in phase?

Yeah after the first of the year is a great time to buy a 05 model headunit. With all the 06 model's coming in they will be trying to get rid of the 05 stuff. That's when i bought my alpine last year in the middle of january when they where cutting last years alpines like hell. I bought my 9833 for 249.99.
