Hey guys have a ? about how you think i should set up my rti10 and sub.
I have the yam. rx-v2600, POLK front rti10, sub psw 505, center csi5, rear center csi3, rear surrounds are fxi5's. I just got my reciever yesterday and have everything except my rti10's that are comming today. My ?'s are should i bi amp which this reciever says i can with it? Polk say my rti10's are 8ohm but everything i have read from ppl say that they are really 4ohm. My receiver only has 6 and 8 ohm options. Now according to Polk i should NOT use the sub out put jack and instead use speaker wires to the sub then change the receiver setting to front speakers large and sub OFF. Just wondering what everyones thoughts were on this and if anyone has a similiar setup that could tell me what works for them. thanks guys.

Welcome,
Nice selection, if you can bi amp them by all means do so. As for the sub Please use the sub out on your receiver. You may also wish to lower the Xover on your receiver to 60. Make sure you are not using the subs xover, either use the non filtered input or turn the xover up all the way. -
On those speakers you CAN use the sub out cable to feed the LFE input of that sub. Then, run speaker wires directly to each speaker from the receiver like you would any other system. Use the 8-6 ohm setting. Using the 4 ohm setting will cause the receiver to engage current limiting which may affect the dynamics of the system.
Try setting those front speakers to small to delete the lower bass out of the main speakers and let the subwoofer handle that. As mentioned, 60 or 80 Hz would be a good crossover setting on the receiver.
Sometimes on some receivers though, if you have the system in "stereo" or "direct" mode, it will shut off the subwoofer output. Usually this is not desireable as there will be no bass through the system, but sometimes it may be desireable (late night movie watching for example).-Eric
