I finally moved the big boys away from the TV area; have them "temporally" in another location, same wall; they are now about 4 inches from the wall and the lows REALLY improved.

Is there like a standard recommended distance from the wall? What do you SRS owners have?

I say play with the distance until you get the desired effect. As you know, I keep mine 8" from the back wall.

It says 5". Remember its a guideline. For me there is a fine line between increasing the bass for the sake of it and what was intended by the artist/recorder.

My 1.2TL's are about 12" off now, but I will probably move them back a bit. I put some Dayton spikes on the feet. Another option is to anchor the speakers to the wall stud. There is actually a screw in the back that can be removed to put a brace in place. Polk does not recommend using both the spikes and the brace.

I also moved mine away from the wall recently.. and the bass did improve some.. they are now about 6" from the back wall. the soundstage is a little better too. Don't know how that could be possible. but the bass is better now.
