MP3 recording question?

I don't bother with MP3s but my kids do and one of my daughters has a question. Let's say she downloads (buys) some tunes from Napster, itunes or whatever. She wants to put them on a disc to listen in her car...but...her car CDP doesn't do MP3 so I assume she can't just burn the MP3s to a disc and be able to play them in her car....right? Is there a way to convert MP3 to audio files to burn on a CD-R? Thanks for the advice.

I've already got Roxio EasyCD Creator. I hope it will convert MP3 to wav. files. I need to check it out. A new HU or ipod are not options right now. She is using a 20G Dell Digital Jukebox with no FM transmitter. The conversion to wav is really the only option. If EasyCD doesn't do it they may have an upgrade downlad that will.

I know there is an option I think in iTunes because I've burned songs i can play in my car and I don't have an mp3 player...
Windows media player can do it as well because I've burned with it. Just look for an option in the "options menu" for burn as wav or something
Sorry I'm so vague

Just use Nero, create a new Audio CD and select the mp3s you want, drag them into the compilation and burn the disc. Nero will automatically "convert" the mp3s to .wav... that should do it!
Hope it helps!<|> -
your roxio will convert. just make an "audio" or "music" disc and you'll be set.

You don't have to convert ahead of time, as CrBoy said. You should just be able to make a new audio CD (in Nero or Roxio) and drag and drop your MP3s into the window. It will automatically convert them in the process of burning.
keep in mind, that any time you uncompress a compressed file, it will sound WORSE than even the COMPRESSED file. Sucks, but what are you going to do?Ludicrous gibs! -

WTH...she is 21 and the only thing that matters right now is LOUD. I'm slowly working her into good 2 channel music for the indoor stuff but for the car right now...It just doesn't matter."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

yeah, i burn cd's all day long. in my car, i have no quality issues what so ever. even on my ht system, i just burn mp3 discs and sit back and relax to hours of uninterupted music. i'm no audiophile. mp3's sound excellent on my system. though store-bought cd's do sound better, i don't care at this time.

As others I use Nero, simple and works very well. Can't go wrong, I never notice any issues with quality.

Actually, I prefer to use CDex. it uses L.A.M.E. as the encoding and compression engine and it is probably the most efficient one out there unless you have a hardware encoder. CDex will convert from MP3 to .WAV which most if not all CD players will play. Once you convert the MP3's to .WAV files, you don't have to rely on the software in the burning software to do the conversion. the only thing it will do is reformat the tracks from .WAV to a CDA or such track. Since it isn't compressed, there is no loss of info.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

If she's got a Mac she can specify in iTunes to burn as audio or mp3 in preferences. If she downloads from Apple she must have iTunes on her computer. If you have a PC I'd think that iTunes has the same features as the Mac version. There is no easier way to burn to CD that via iTunes. choose the songs, put a CD in and click the burn button. It levels the volume from one song to another, puts the correct spacing in, etc. Another nice feature of it is that I have a computer connected to my a/v system. If my wife's computer or my laptop or my daughters computers are on (and with macs you never turn them off, their music shows up in intunes on the computer near the stereo. All music from all computers is available on that machine. It's available to play on all our machines for that matter. It's very cool.
Personally I find that mp3's take a big clarity hit when played on decent sound equipment compared to CD's. But, the new aac format is CD quality and the songs are the same size as mp3's. I can find little difference in sound from a CD. Wish all my music was this format.
