Polk Speaker Finishes
Two questions:
1. I currently have the Polk DS 7200 home theater system which came with bookshelf speakers in a high-gloss black piano finish that is just beautiful. But when I started looking for better front speakers I found that the only speakers that Polk currently offers in high-gloss black are its FX surround speakers; everything else is in wood or wood grain. Does this mean that the high-gloss black piano finish is being phased out and I should grab the FX speakers while I still can (although I don't really need new surround speakers right now)? Or is it just a cyclical thing and I can assume that next year's model (or the one after) will have the piano finish again?
2. The Polk Monitor series description says that it is available in black or cherry "wood grain." Does that mean wood, composite, vinyl, or what? Is this the basic difference between the Monitor series and the RTi series? (If so then Polk should be more clear about that in its descriptions -- otherwise they may end up with customers who would have been willing to spend more money but end up disappointed because they didn't realize what they were buying.)
Thanks for your help.

The LSi series has the glossy finish you might be looking for... They use the black finish on the whole speaker and then put wood side pannels on. All current non-metal polks should be made of mdf with either a fake or real veneer on top of that (depending on the line of speakers).
There are a few differences between the monitor and RTi series aside from asthetics. Different drivers and crossovers are a couple big ones...
Depending on your taste in music and listening habits you might be wise to listen to the LSi series. If you are looking for something a little cheaper than that series but still crave that piano black finish, NHT offers some great speakers with 7 coat black lacquer finishes. -
The only speakers Polk offers in an absolute high gloss finish...
Is the LSiFX and the LSiC
The rest of the LSi line offers that same finish, but they sport wooden side panels as well.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
