Psw1200

The time has come for my PSW1200 to move on.

This is, by most accounts, the biggest and best sub that Polk ever made. It has two side-firing 12" woofers and a Power Port integrated into the base it sits on. 230 Watt high current amp (350 Watt dynamic power rating) good for a calculated maximum output of 115db, according to the owners manual. The amp has inputs for five channels (use any or all of them) as well as unfiltered "LFE" inputs. Line and speaker level inputs and outputs. Speaker level ins and outs are binding posts. A high pass filter (40 or 80Hz or flat, switchable) for the speaker level AND line level outputs. Variable crossover and phase (continuously variable 0-180 degrees), and an auto-on-off switch.

I bought this from Crutchfield when they were closing them out, for $700. After I ordered, they called me back to say that they only had one left and that the box looked a little beat up. They had checked it out however, and found it to be in good condition. They told me if I wanted it, they would crate it up and send it truck freight, on them, so that it would have less chance of getting damaged in shipping. I agreed. When it arrived, the base was sticking out through the bottom of the cardboard box, but sitting on the wooden pallet -- they were right: the box was trashed-- but the sub was fine. Not a mark on it anywhere! I used it very infrequently for about 3 years. Never been abused in the least. Since I changed houses a couple of years ago, I've never set the theater back up, instead concentrating on my 2-ch rig. I don't like a sub for 2ch (and I don't really have room to place it properly even if I wanted to) so it very rarely gets used anymore.

It's in superb condition, not a mark on it that I know of. I didn't save the original box (see above), so I don't have that. I've got everything else that it came with though. It's big, heavy, and awkward to handle, so I don't even want to talk about shipping it. I will drive a reasonable distance to deliver it, if I like you :) I'm located in west central Arkansas, about 50 miles from Ft. Smith, 100 miles from Little Rock.

Oh, the price: The ones I've found listed lately seem to be around $400, and I'm sure mine is in as good, or better condition, so that seems like a reasonable place to start.

It's a nice-looking (though large) sub, and is typical of Polk subs in that it is
quite musical-sounding. A little on the rare side, as I don't believe they sold too many of them (probably because of the size). Volume control goes to "11". My wife is going to miss having it for an end table... or a Christmas tree stand...

Thanks for looking
Jason

In case you change your mind. I recently had a PSW 650 shipped to me from California and I live in Wisconsin. Granted the owner had the original box but Im sure there are plenty of shipping services in your area that will package it to ensure a safe delivery. And Im sure you'd find plenty on people on here willing to pay alittle extra to offset your packaging cost. Just a thought. Good luck with the sale.

Jason, I might have a friend that would be interested in this sub. I can meet you in Little Rock to pick it up if he does want it. If someone else jumps on it, go ahead and sell it. I can let you know tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

Thanks for the replies. Yes I could consider shipping it, if no one "local" wants it, but the bottom line is I'd rather not have to deal with that.

I added a couple of pictures of it to the post above and revised the description slightly after I looked at the manual. They're not the greatest pictures, but most everyone knows what they look like anyway. No, it shouldn't be placed that close to the chair, and no, it shouldn't have a Christmas tree on it.

    Zach,

I'm not really in a hurry, so just let me know when you can. I'm only considering selling it because 1.) I need the money for something else, and 2.) I never use it. Like I said above, you don't see them everyday, so in a way I liked keeping it around as a novelty of sorts.

Did you find room for the speakers?
