PB12 Ultra/2 To Replace My PC Ultra...?

Hey guys. I am considering replacing my SVS PC Plus 25-31 with THIS SVS in either Oak or Maple. It goes better with the furniture but how much of an upgrade do you think it wil be? I am pretty happy with the sound of the PC Plus. TIA

I'm also considering this subwoofer in Piano Gloss Black....not that I'm unhappy or anything, but I prefer to be at the top of the food chain in regards to subwoofers.

Maybe it is just me, but I am confused. You just purchased the PB12-Ultra/2. What do you currently have? A PC-Ultra or a PC-Plus? If a PC-Plus, which version? Your HT link also mentions a PC-Ultra.

I got in in maple to match everything else...It's a little Wilma Christmas gift with all the OT I worked....But that's it! No more spending!.....yeah right..who am I kidding?

I know. I am wondering about the 190 lb thing. I did manage to get the Outlaw 770 up in the rack all by my lonesome though and that was actually lifting 110 lbs( or so) up so maybe I can do it ..(remember I am the fairer sex here ) I am just wondering really how much of a difference it will make. I know it is supposed to be an upgrade but I chose it for the aesthetics also to go with my room. I have to admit , I am a little anxious to get a hold of it.

It came today!!! YAY! What a beast. I unpacked it and placed it all by my little lonesome too. I have not calibrated it yet but of course I hooked it up. All I can say is WOW! I am hearing low end LFE I never heard before. The cabinet is gorgeous also. I just have to read the book now and work out the EQ etc....I am thrilled so far

It's pretty heavy but I managed.(I work out )I actually removed the box from the sub otherwise there would be no way ! I will try to get some pics up soon. Right now I am trying to calibrate it with the PEQ and my Radio Shack SPL Meter. It's kinda not working for me so far. I also way underestimated the sheer size of this thing. I did take the measuring tape out but actually having it in the room is different. I have been trying to find a spot where it looks good and sounds good. I think it is just going to have to go where the other was for the best sound.

Meanwhile I am just scratching my head with the Eq. I don't think I am going to get a flat response in this room..I will keep trying tho....

find a happy medium with the peq. it's all you can do. and get them pics posted! don't be shy, get a pic of them dame guns you got on ya. that beast is heavy. my deal was that i did not want to drag mine at all. my summbitch walks all over my slippery tile though, so it drags its own ****. be prepared. and please remove all pictures from the walls and double-stick tape any figurines and/or vases you may have around.

OK. After moving everything in my HT ...and I mean everything..(man am I beat) I settled on putting this behemoth to the left of the sofa. It seems to be the best compromise between placement and SQ so far. I got the PEQ adjusted the best I could so I will give it a few days of some critical listening. I haven't even begun to listen to music yet. I am putting War of the Worlds to the test here. Nice sub. I certainly do not need any kind of bass shakers in the sofa. I will get pics....

god bless you, woman! be extremely cautious with the bass scenes. the sub will be fine, your living space will not. i'd love to hear your sub next to mine and see how noticeable a difference there is between the two. ah, dang. we're worlds apart.

Ok. I take it back..upon further review..it has to go where the PC Plus was. It just sounds better there. It' s awkwardly big there but Damn! it sounds fine....taking pics now and gonna update the HT link..

I am having technical difficulties with my digital camera right now so pics are delayed but I am liking my new sub. I can't keep both . I just don't have the room and I just think it would be overkill.Not sure what I am going to do with the plus...

use it in a separate room? sell it to a flooring company. it'll probably make removal of old tile easier. worlds largest paperweight? subwoofer for your ipod? no, just sell it and get some money back on it.

Ha! Subwoofer for my Ipod I can just see me now jogging in the park with my IPOD and my Svs subwoofer...thanks for the giggle.

I guess I will sell it ...I always seem to regret that though. I wish I still had a couple of things I sold. Oh well. No room for it really.

Ok I am officially insane . I set up my PC PLus to the left of my sofa and put the Ultra where the Plus was. Now I am seriously considering just running them both. The second sub really helps out a null I had starting at about 55 to 65. The Bass is INSANE. But more importantly, now it is starting to sound integrated. I have a peak from about 20 to 25 but it's not so bad. I have Lenrd bass traps in the corners so that tames the boominess somewhat. I tell ya'..there oughta be a law.
