This is a must have disc... for anyone who is in this hobby to get away from the world... to relax... to just enjoy the music.

Its an indian type of music with melody type vocals... chants... with a nice mixture of instruments...

Must check them out.
- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Into the labyrithm is an awesome recording. It is one of my reference recordings. I can only imagine how it will sound in sacd since the redbook cd is one of the best mastered/recorded cd i've heard thus far.

It's their entire catalog of studio albums being released on SACD, possibly in 5.1 multi-channel surround sound.

    Be quiet about this....

According to sa-cd.net, WEA Japan (aka Warner Music Japan) is releasing those Dead Can Dance SACDs. As some of you know, Warner Music is a proponent of SACDs rival format, DVD-A. If the SACDs do get released, it will be like Toshiba releasing a Blu-ray player.

They have pretty much disbanded as Lisa Gerard has gone to write movie music with others. They have a nice DVD (was VHS and PQ is not too good). Toward the Within is the DVD and there is a live CD by the same name. I would call the music "Indian" but it is a fusion of Celtic and aboriginal rhythms. If you want something even more cave oriented, try Tuu or Suspended Memories. Also Jorge Reyes.

Dead Can Dance SACD confirmed for released on 6/2/2008 by the band's record company. Remastered by Mobile Fidelity!!
Dead Can Dance - Details of Remastered Releases
    02 April 08

On the 2nd of June, 4AD is to release remastered editions of nine titles in the Dead Can Dance catalogue.

These albums (and EP) have been remastered by MFSL (Mobile Fidelity Sound Laboratory), one of the most respected audiophile labels in the USA. They are in the hybrid stereo SACD format. For extensive, detailed information on the SACD format, visit the SACD wikipedia page.

The SACD's will be packaged in Japanese paper sleeves which will replicate the original UK vinyl releases, including replica original inner sleeves and new additional booklets with lyrics, album labels and other images.

There may also be a box set of all nine releases available directly through 4AD - more details to be confirmed in the near future.

Regular CD editions of the re-mastered albums will be released in super jewel cases in August.

Read on for complete track-listings of the releases.

I have to check out their music. This totally got past my radar (not that it's difficult to do).

For those that saw the movie "The Mist", the end track where they escape from the grocery store and are driving....the music playing is "Dead Can Dance: The Host of the Seraphin" from the Album "The Serpants Egg."

I gotta get these SCAD's when they come out!

Go here to get a taste...

    I love MOFI.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I'll definitely bet getting 'Into the Labyrinth" on SACD. I've had this on redbook since it first came out in 1993. I remember when 'the Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove' was getting radio play on 89X in Detroit/Sarnia. I loved it from the first listen and bought the CD within days. I've turned many a folk on to this unique sound during late night listening parties. This album is possibly the BEST "last music" for the night. It just puts you in a cool mellow mood.

Edit: Not sure if this is the MOFI release, or if it will be cheaper from MusicDirect, but Amazon has a preorder up now.

I'm not sure whether the SACDs are released by MoFi or merely remastered by MoFi.
