Researching RM 6800
CURRENT SETUP...
I've got a HT room, just shy of 11 x 11 feet square; use a Panasonic AE700 HD projector for a 90" image. Mostly for DVDs, then HD sports and little music.
Currently have low-end Onkyo SR303 with included speaker system costing $300 for all, (non-powered sub). Only real complaints are clipping at sub and a little dullness from satellites.
I've ordered a brand new Yamaha HTR 5990 receiver, primarily for the HDMI switching between DVD and cable, but will have extra watts out the wazoo as a byproduct.
Wiring has speakers mounted at 4 room corners, at a little over 6'. Center is on desk at 3'. Sub is at front right of room, next to an exterior block wall.
QUESTIONS...
1. Does the 6800 sound like the right system for my setup?
2. I'd rather wire conventionally due to existing wiring. Is this OK?
3. Based on my low-end speakers, will I probably notice an incremental or an incredible difference? (I realize that YMMV).
4. Any other thoughts, suggestions, based on my setup?
Thanks all for the time,
Jerry

IMO, always stay away from the small satellite speakers. they just sound, well, small. If it were my money I'd wait for www.outpost.com to put the Polk R15's on sale again for $50 a pair and buy 3 pair of them, or go to Audio Advisor and buy 2 pair of the Athena AS-B1 speakers and the AS-C1 center channel, or buy 3 pairs of the AS-B1's if you want a 6.1 set-up. The Athenas sound really good for the money. As for a sub, check out Parts Express 12" sub for something on the cheaper end. They are darn good for the money, hell for $120 and free shipping get two and you'll have plenty of bass for your small room.
IMO either of these speaker options will be MUCH better than the RM6800.Sony KDL-40V2500 HDTV, Rotel RSX-1067 Receiver, Sony BDP-S550 Blu-ray, Slim Devices Squeezebox, Polk RTi6, CSi3 & R15, DIY sub with Atlas 15
