Hi,

Im new to HT, would like some help with deciding what sub would be the best.
The system I will be purchasing.
RTi8
RTi6
CSi5
FXi5
AVR2106

Now I can get the two subs for close to the same price, I know the 15" inch will go lower and louder but will it be as tight as the 12"? what do you guys recommend, also will the 2106 amp be sufficient for my setup?

My room is 14 by 21ft

Thanks

If you want tight, check the spl series as well. DLS series is powerful but some say it is a little slow.
Gear: Rotel RC 1082, Rotel RSP 1068 pre/pro, Rotel RMB1077 amp, Cayin CDT 15a CD player, S301 bluray.

Speakers: Tannoy DC sensys speakers, Paradigm Servo15 Sub, Velo Spl-1500r

    Conditioner: Isotek :D

Let me ask,you mention tight. I just purchased the dls 5000, not hearing the spl series I would say the 5000 is quite responsive. I myself thought it would be to big for my room being 14x20. After hearing it with my entire system, it sounds awsome. Please give me more info on the tightness issue. Thanks, Doug

I live in New Zealand we dont have many options here, I have only found the DLS models in NZ, we call the DLS "CHT-R" over here...

I have been told by a HT shop owner not to get anything bigger than 12" because they start getting slow at responding.
    True or False?

    Thanks

    True... 20 years ago.

    False... current.
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

I'm using the spl1200r now, but I had the cht equivalent dls4000 as a temp before the spl arrived.

The cht-r tended to draw attention to itself when playing music. It's sound lingered slightly. But when the spl arrived, it was very different. This sub disappears and blend/integrates very well with the speaker mains. It doesn't draw attention to itself and doesn't drown out the details. Very powerful in HT as well.
