Name that tune and then sing along...

First line of a song starts a "string".
Next post names that tune and adds lines to complete verse. Throw in the refrain for good measure as well...
First responder to name tune and add a line picks a new one...

And it's kinda like hand grenades... close counts...

If you want to stump the band with some obscure tune, that's your business. IMO more fun if it's a song folks know, but may not have thought about the lyrics in a while...

Idea came to me when song below just played on XM's classic rock station...

"I've seen the bright lights of Memphis
and the Commodor Hotel
"
More later,
Tour...

    Little Feat - Dixie Chicken

"And underneath a street lamp I met a Southern belle
Well she took me to the river, where she cast her spell
And in that Southern moonlight, she sang a song so well"

    NEXT ->
"Well, I followed her to the station with a suitcase in my hand"
Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

Stones (might be a cover) - Love in Vain

"Yeah, I followed her to the station with a suitcase in my hand,
Lord, its hard to tell hard to tell when all your love's in vain"

    NEXT:

Neil Young - Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere

    There's a woman that
I'd like to get to know
    Living there

    Everybody seems to wonder
    What it's like down here
    I gotta get away
    from this day-to-day
    running around,
    Everybody knows
    this is nowhere.

Yeah, "Love In Vain" is a cover by the Stones (they redid the lyrics a bit) of a Robert Johnson tune. Keb Mo (among others) does a pretty close rendition.

Are we supposed to be filling "Dixie Chicken" and "Love In Vain"? I haven't had enough coffee yet to be coherent! :o

    Shite! Almost forgot.

Nah, I edited the instructions. Simpler to just ID, complete and go... So run with it...

    Down to business...
"Desolation Row" Robert Zimmerman (AKA Bob Dylan)

They're selling postcards of the hanging
    They're painting the passports brown
The beauty parlor is filled with sailors
    The circus is in town
    Here comes the blind commissioner
They've got him in a trance
One hand is tied to the tight-rope walker
The other is in his pants... :O

Off of Highway 61 Revisited... A GREAT SACD reissue...

    Next Up...

    David Bowie - Queen ****
    Hunky Dory - 1971

    He's down on the street
And he's trying hard to pull sister Flo
Oh, my heart's in the basement
My weekend's at an all time low
    'Cos she's hoping to score
So I can't see her letting him go
    Walk out of her heart
    Walk out of her mind
    Oh loved her

As strongly as answering the alternative selction "BECKons" me, why not just stay with the first (which I looked up so I'm DQ'd). If no one gets it in a reasonable time, add the next line.

Besides if we give it up to the Gen X'ers, who's going to get it back for the geezers? :D Could be some kind of Bozo nightmare and we'd just be losers, baby (and have to kill each other or something...)

We can be like they are
    Come on baby

Saturday night and you're still hangin' around
Tired of living in your one horse town
You'd like to find a little hole in the ground,
    ... for awhile
So you go to the village in your tie dyed jeans
And you stare at the junkies and the closet queens
    It's like some pornographic magazine
    ... and you smile

Captain Jack will get you high tonight
And take you to your special island
Captain Jack will get you by tonight
Just a little push, and you'll be smilin'

    Ah! '80's

I can feel no sense of measure
    No illusions as we take
    Refuge in young man’s pleasure
Breaking down the dreams we make
    Real

    One down one to go
Another town and one more show
    Downtown they’re giving away
    But she never came back

No phone can take your place
    You know what I mean
    We have the same intrigue
    As a court of kings

    Ah Leave It

    Yes, from "90125", I think.
