My Experience with Upgrading by Downsizing

I recently "upgraded" my HT system by selling off my amps -- a couple of ATI 1502's and a Marantz MA700 monoblock that was powering the center channel. In the process, I decided to try out a new receiver to replace my beloved HK 525. My budget was about $400, so I purchased a factory refurbed Pioneer Elite VSX-52TX. Glad I did. The Elite is an awesome little unit. The WAF thinks it's cute. Lots of great features and incredible sound. Since I have a 5.1 setup, I really like the ability to bi-amp my fronts with the unused channels.
To be honest, I don't miss the separate amplification that I had. In fact, on some of my demo DVDs I prefer the sound of my new system over the old one. The reality is -- I enjoy movies just the same.

Glad you found equipment you like so you can finally enjoy the content it was designed to reproduce.

But how does the DVD experience compare to watching a play live and in person?More later,
