How important is to use the peq on the SVS sub? Also whats the easiest way to use it without using a computer. thanks
My HT set-up Panasonic front proj, 120 in ws screen, ATI amp,Integra 9.8 pre-pro, 2 Polk rti150, cp 1000, 4 fx 1000, Pioneer blu-ray 2 SVS sub pb 12-ultra 2, & Paragon popcorn popper. ps 3 Coaster leather HT recliners.

use an SPL meter and test tones. without seeing a plot of your response no one can tell you how important the PEQ is.

You should at least get 20 hz to 90 hz and plot your response in an excel spreadsheet (don't forget to use the correction factors for the radio shack SPL meter). I've attached the spreadsheet I made up that makes all the corrections. All you have to do is enter your readings into the table, the spreadsheet graphs everything for you. Let me know if you have any questions about it.
