Amperex tubes - question for the experts

Anybody care to give me a rundown on the different Amperex, Holland made 12ax7 and 12ax7a?
They've got the bugle boy, white print, orange globe, orange print and red print that I've seen so far. Is there any real difference? All the ones I have seem to have the same construction.

Bugle, White & Orange Globe...the rest is standard tube.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
