Outlaw ICBM Users - ?'s

I threw in a bid on an Outlaw ICBM and cables on eBay before I left for the Natalie Cole concert Sunday night, and after checking this morning I actually won the auction! I am planning on running this between the pre-outs on my Yamaha HTR-5790 and my power amps, utilizing the the ICBM for my dual center channels, front mains, and side surrounds. That way I can have different bass cut-offs for the lower center channel compared to the upper center channel. The rear surrounds will still run off of the HTR.

Any tips on how to set up the ICBM and get it adjusted?

if your using the icbm for bass management, make sure you have any bass management off on the yammie (i.e. no crossover, speaks on large to send full signal to mains and center etc) then control all bass management on the ICBM. hooking up is relativly simple. there is a bass recombine switch on the back, on means you are sending the crossed bass signal to the subs, but then back to the speakers(I'd keep it off)
crossover points are relativly simple, experiment with what sounds best.

    have fun

I am waiting for a new amp before hooking it up the way you want to.
I am interested in what you think after you do.
I only use mine with the few sacd's I have.

oh, crap. I tried to snipe it... sorry about that- but you still got a good price even with that last second $15 hike :)

Anyhow, the beauty of the icbm is that it's great for tweaking, so that's probably your best bet - use your ears. I've been using a psuedo-active PFmod, but I have to change jumpers for different freq's, whereas the ICBM lets you just twist knobs.

Yeah, so good luck, sorry about the snipe and if you wanna unload it, lemme know.

unc2701 - don't have to apologize for trying to snipe it! If I wasn't in a hurry to leave yesterday I would of set up my snipe engine to try to grab it. If after experimenting with it I don't see any benefit, I'll give you first dibs! With the IC's it's a good deal at the price I got it! I look forward to playing with it to see what it will do in my system.

I finally got the ICBM hooked up in the HT system. I am using between my Yamaha HTR-5790 running in 7.1 and my power amps. I do run the two rear surrounds off of the Yamaha. I have the front mains, the side surrounds, and my two front center channels running through the ICBM (I use the rear center channel on the ICBM for the second front center). I need to do some additional tweaking on my HTR, and rerun the YPAQ set up, however first impressions are very good. I now have much more control over the bass and my sub-woofers, with easy adjustments from the ICBM. This may not be important if you have a house and no neighbors to piss off, however in an apt. this is a very nice addition. I can easily adjust the bass and sub output, depending on time of night and if the downstairs neighbors are around. I'm not seeing huge advantages to having this in the system, but it does provide some nice control/blending features and lets you tweak until you get tired of it and move on to the next toy ;)

Living in an apt, it is worth the price for the LFE mix and level controls alone! Once I had everything tweaked and re-equalized, being able to easily adjust the amount of bass compared to the other channels, and easily adjust the overall sub level is a fantastic feature for late night listening and keeping peace with the neighbors. Much nicer than using night mode on the HTR.

I would like to try it in a bi-amp setup, I think this is where it would sound the best.
