Connect a single RCA cable from the Sub Out Jack on your receiver to the applicable input on your sub. If your receiver has an On Screen Display (OSD), go to the set-up screen and make sure the sub-output is set to On/Yes. Set the Crossover point to 80hz (the THX standard) and set all of your speakers to Small. Now all of the sound from 80hz and below (LFE) will be played through the sub, all of the remaining sound will of course be played through the remaining speakers.

Invest in an SPL Meter and calibrate the system properly. Your ears aren't calibrated enough to do it by themselves. Here's a link to get you started on proper calibration.

What about the Speaker Wire (Front Speakers) ? should I run them into the sub first and then the receiver or just go directly into the receiver.

    Thanks for the quick response.

you have 2 ways of wiring things...

    1) connect L+R front speakers from the receiver to the sub and then connect the sub output terminals to the front speakers.

    2) as Frank Z said, you can use the subwoofer output from your receiver and connect to the RCA jacks on your sub. in this case, you would wire your front speakers directly to the receiver.

i would recommend, like Frank, option 2, and wire them both directly from the receiver.

That way through the Fronts is what we call round here the "POLK" way, Frank gave you the forum board way which most of us use. Its up to you. But I like and use the board way. The difference is one way you are using crossover in the sub the other way the cross over in the reciever.

The calibration and setting of your crossover point on your receiver is advice you should listen to.
