They're series monobridged, so they won't do 2 ohm very well. I think you can send them to the factory and have them set up parallel- mono bridged, but you'll stay at 1200 watts into 2 Ohm.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Ahh. The 2-ohm stability the seller was talking about must have been when they're in stereo mode. Sure does seem weird to have a monoblock that has a 'stereo mode'.

Yeah, a lot of the uber-powerful amps are really just mono-bridged versions of the stereo ones. Sometimes you'll see them with series/parallel switches, so if you have 4-8ohm you can get more watts, but for under 4ohm you can get more current... The previous owner of my Classe Model 25 contacted Classe about running in mono into lower impedances....according to him, per Classe, they are stable at 2 ohm in mono. Also, they aren't strictly monoblocks, he has two stereo amps that he uses for mono operation. The back of each has stereo inputs and stereo outputs. They look exactly like mine.
Take it for what you will, being second hand info, however, unless you've got a pair of Scintillas, I wouldn't worry about it.
