Hey guys, I'm looking to replace my front speakers. Right now I have Cerwin Vega RE-30s, had them for about 7-8 years. I have a Polk monitor CS2 center, and 4 Polk monitor 30s for surrounds, and a JBL PB10 subwoofer. All speakers are powered by an Onkyo TX-SR702 receiver. How do the RE-30s match up to the rest of the system, and what would be a good replacement for them? My budget is up to $1000. I listen mostly to HT in a room that is 19.5' X 12.5' X 8'. Thanks for any advice and opinions.

Since you have the cs2, you should stay within the monitor series so your front stage will be timbre matched. I would go with the 40's, but you could always go with another set of 30's.

Also, welcome to the club. ;)

Monitor 30's or 40's if you like speakers on stands (my pref.)
Or if you like floorstanders try the monitor 60 or 70 to offset the cs2's 6.5" midwoofs. Monitor 50's will also do fine.

Try moving the monitor 30s to the front and see if you like the sound of that series.
    Good suggestion...

Thanks guys, good ideas. The info should help. Never thought of moving a pair of 30s to the front for a trial.
