Newb Question about 1.2s

I have had a set of 1.2s since they were new. Was thinking about either selling them or using them for a home theatre project.... I am wondering now after reading up weather they are 1.2s or 1.2TLs. I could swear when I bought them, I was told they are TLs but I don't know now. Is there a easy way to tell from the serial number or something or do I need to pull the crossover out to tell? I can take a pic too if it's easy to tell that way.....

If you look at the back of the speaker is there a bolt right in the middle about 2/3's of the way up?
Are the tweeters in the front dark or light? (sl3000 or sl2000)
On the crossover (metal plate) how many screws are there?
MichaelMains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms) -
First, welcome. Second, don't sell :-)
Do a search, there were a lot of thread in this topic. The label at the back sometimes are wrong. If you are the original owner, then the easiest way to identify 1.2 and 1.2TL is looking at the tweeters. If they are silver dome (SL2000), then you have 1.2. If they are kind of dark/gold dome (SL3000),then they 1.2TL. This method is relatively reliable unless:
1. The original SL2000's were replaced by the new silk dome tweeters, or
2. The original SL2000's were foolishly replaced by SL3000!!!
Hope this will help,

The tweeters look kinda darker with maybe a bronze hue to them. The crossover has 8 fasteners around the outside with one in the middle and there is a bolt in the upper/middle/back of the cabinet...

1.2 tl. congrats........now go forth and replace them tweeters.
you wont regret that upgrade.SRT For Life; SDA Forever!
The SRT SEISMIC System:
Four main satellite speakers, six powered subs, two dedicated for LFE channel, two center speakers for over/under screen placement and three Control Centers. Amaze your friends, terrorize your neighbors, seize the audio bragging rights for your state. Go ahead, buy it; you only go around once. -
So they are TLs then? LOL, I thought they already had the "better" tweaters... Guess I need to do some more searching. I need to hit these with some serious power too, I have always sort of under powered them. I was biamping them at one time and ohhhhh what a difference. I have some old school Onkyo Integra stuff too like a M304 preamp I think and a M504 amp. I got rid of my mullet about 10 years ago so I guess it's time to upgrade amps now...

LOL, thanks for the welcome. I knew these speakers were great, but didn't even realize these forums existed and there were so many phreaks out there..... I have Martin Logan speakers upstairs right now, and was considering using them for the theatre in the basement and selling the Polks, but they just kickass.. Don't get me wrong, the MLs sound great too, but not sure what they would do in a theater situation... Plus, there isn't anything much more impressive to walk in a room and see 1.2s on either side of the screen.. I am glad I kept these things in mint condition!

Here are a couple pics BTW. That oxidation or whatever it is on the crossover happened the day I brought these things home 15 years ago. They were on their back in a truck with no topper and I think the sun did that to them....lol. Sorry for the crappy pics, flash photography is never a good thing.

Yep, those are 1.2TL's. The fading out of the crossover plates is very common, but I'm not sure why it continued for several years without being corrected. Something to do with an improper curing of an anodized aluminum finish or something like that. My original SDA-SRS from a few years before yours have the same thing, but one is faded and the other is not.

Welcome to the Forums.
Hook them up to some good power, do some speaker updates and enjoy! -
Thanks alot! I need to put together a killer surround sound setup for the basement. These speakers actually match up really nice with Def Tech speakers IMHO. I have already got everything I need except for a good processor and good power. I use mostly Yamaha stuff in the past but need something real clean and strong to match up with these bad boys......

Like I said, it's definately sun related. Mine have looked like that since the day I brought them home, it's actually kinda cool looking if you dont know what they are supposed to look like.....lol

What Bob said....with those, you don't need no steenking surround!
Good, clean power. Receivers need not apply.
The SL3000's aren't bad but the replacements are oh, so sweet sounding.

Ok newbie here. I am the original owner of some SDA SRS 1.2's that I bought with a single M-117 to power them. Currently these speakers are in their original boxes in my basement. After lots of searching and getting my hands on some more M-117's I am bringing the speakers out into open air. My question is this, what are these tweeter upgrades I have been reading about here and where would I get this upgrade? Cheers
