So with all the talk and fun many CP members are having now with tube gear I had this thought about a Tube Rolling Program. It is my nature to come up with grand thoughts and ideas and advance them by setting priorities etc. But I always need help with refinement and getting things right. The devil is in the details sort of thing.
What are your thoughts and how might it work? Feel free to play Devil's Advocate just don't Roadblock anyones suggestions.

Yeeks!!! Five Gunslingers want to shoot poor old RT1 , OK come on down to Ga, and we will do some tunes then get the simmuntion and S&W's out for some manyo vs manyo fun time. I might a shot a pistoli one or twice. still at least five others would like to, especially Noel who said so THREE times.
I really would not expect experienced folks who have already rolled their own to participate. Just seems we have alot of new members with pre's and such. Some of the tubes are not cheap, a quad of NOS tele smoothplates is what 350-400. Some of the pairs are 150-200 for NOS 6dj8 series. I have only been into tubes for about a 1 1/2 years now and am just beginning to feel a bit comfortable with them. Sure if you have the funds you can roll your own, but not everyone can. I realize they are delicate and something bad might happen to them but hopefully folks would be careful.
Their is alot of tube info scattered in the forums just a bit hard to track down. Thought it would be fun to pass some around to see how you might like a say an Amperex 7308 compared to a JAN 6DJ8 without spending the coin up front. We could have a sticky and post up about them or something like that. Besides its just another fun thing to do with audio buds.

I think it's a fine idea, go for it.Political Correctness'.........defined

Getting shot seems kind of extreme for suggesting it. I think it would be fitting to shoot someone who ran off with a quad of smoothplates though.
Some forums showed who voted for what by running the mouse over the poll data. Then you could see who's gunnin for ya.Salk SoundScape 8's * Audio Research Reference 3 * Bottlehead Eros Phono * Park's Audio Budgie SUT * Krell KSA-250 * Harmonic Technology Pro 9+ * Signature Series Sonore Music Server w/Deux PS * Roon * Gustard R26 DAC / Singxer SU-6 DDC * Heavy Plinth Lenco L75 Idler Drive * AA MG-1 Linear Air Bearing Arm * AT33PTG/II & Denon 103R * Richard Gray 600S * NHT B-12d subs * GIK Acoustic Treatments * Sennheiser HD650 * -
I don't see the harm in it.....However, for the most part, tubes are cheap and are prone to damage...
I think it's at least worth the suggestion.
