I am thinking of using an Lsi9 as a center channel, anybody know where I can order just one?
If anyone has a Lsi9 CC, how did you manage it?
Thanks

Search should turn up discussions as others have done this.

Every once in a while you see a single on ebay.

Been looking for a single dinged-up 7 or 9 to put between my sofa and back wall as a 6th speaker. Appearance not an issue as only the spiders will see it.

If you find a used pair (7 or 9) with one scratched and one good, I'd buy the beat-up one from you. Maybe we could both come out ahead with this.

    Depends on price though.

Hi, we have heard of many customers using a 3rd LSi9 for the center channel with great success.

First try your dealer, many times they are willing to split up a set for this very reason, or for 6.1 systems. If you are unable to find one this way, you can get a single one from us directly.

    Eric:

Why develop the LSiC then? Is the 9 a superior center, if space is not an issue?

I am in midst of listening to two RM3000 satellites (wired parallel) as a center channel. My initial impressions are that the 3000s are more closely matched to my Lsi9s than my cs350, the 350 during test tones has a emphasis on the lower register of mid-range, while the LSi9s don't.

My guess is that this is inherant in a lot of CCs, the 3000s match my LSi9s closer in test tones...I don't think I like the chesty sound in a CC, I'd rather have a uniform sound across the soundstage...at first the 3000s exhibited less mid-range than I would have liked but then I adjusted the crossover on them from a 150hz to 80hz and it sounded great.

Overall the treble sounds cleaner in the center signal
I think Im going to stick with this setup.

So, its LSi9s on R/L, two 3000's in unison for the center channel and two more 3000s for R/L surrounds
plus my HSU 1220TN anchoring it all

The LSi9 has a full bodied sound to it that makes it blend great with a sub-woofer.
The LSic sounds good but IMO it cant keep up with the 9s in lower midrange/upper bass.

I'm dabbling with the idea of a dual lsi9 center using a y-connector hooked up to one power amp. :P

You could set it up like standard stereo on the power amp. What to do is have the 'center' rca split into two via y-connector and have them plugged to the left and right channels of the power-amp. So the same signal will be sent through the left and right channels.

This would double the output of the center so it may need to be toned down a bit. :D

I'd set them up a little closer together between the 'mains' speakers. This should give a nice impact for dialogues.

Side by side like you have it on stereo. It may even produce a phantom center working together that way. Not sure, but regardless, it will put a lot of oomph to the center.

I set up the both Rm3000 satellites as a center channel w/ sub so the cc is set to Large as well as the rm3000 surrounds w/ sub

Lsi9s are set to small and now the front soundstage matches seamlessly along with the front to back imaging...much better setup than using the cs350 set to small...amazing actually

I had to order a pair and then I sold the extra one on Ebay for someone else also looking to use it as a center. I tried Crutchfield and they said that they only sold them by the pair. I used to have the LSIC and for some reason I used to have to set it way hot to hear the dialog clearly. I am very happy with the 9 as a center.
