What are the best speakers out there to go into my 88 Chevrolet Chevette. I was in PepBoys and they had some bitchin' Visonik's. I really like the red. I heard Audiobahn was good, too. What do you boys think?

Cool. I'll try Walmart tomorrow. It's a 20 mile drive, but that's okay. It's worth it.

    wait, he may be serious...

hey jbondox, are you totally serious about thinking audiobahn and visonik is good? cause if you are, then you really need to tell us or else you're making a huge mistake... if not, congratulations on scaring the hell out of me...

^^ What he's really trying to say is that audiobahn, pyle, visonik, kraco, etc. are junk. All they are are 'decorations' that make noise. You do not want them.

I live in a pretty rural area so I can only go by what I've seen around here. We don't have any "car stereo" stores, so word of mouth is all we have. I've done few things to my car such as custom 15" American Racing wheels, an APC aluminum wing, and blue window tint to match the exterior. My buddies F350 has 2 Audiobahn subs in the bed and they POUND! He has Urban Audio for inside speakers and it sounds pretty good. I think he said he got his Jensen radio at Walmart, but I'm not sure. If there is better stuff out there, I haven't heard it.

okay, in that case we can help you move into a whole new world of sound... what you think sounds great is only the tip of the iceberg... welcome to the wonderful world of car audio :D

a good first step is to tell us what you drive, what kind of music you listen to, and how much you're looking to spend

For starters, go to Crutchfield.com, and step through the process of "what speakers fit my car" and it will give you a list of options for your door panels.

got a pic of the car?

This guy is a regular on the Carsound forum and he's a professional installer. He's just as full of **** there as he is here.

Just one example, here is his repsonse over there to me recommending the SR's to somebody:
did you have an essay going why you love your polks so much and erase it? I was going to crush that remark, but I wanted to double check something and when I came back I was WTF is it? Now, please don't get me started, I have a guy who replaced his PG ti elite (morels) with them and is totally unhappy, and this guy knows how to install. And especially at the price you had them listed! I'd buy 4 pairs of pioneer seperates!

They're only midbass drivers, because of that, I lose nothing by inverting them. I had to make dustcovers for them because they initally came as 6x9 coupled components (convertibles). remove the tweeter pod and you're supposed to put this screw cap in there... well it didn't give me a good feelings, so I cut some thin abs and then epoxied it to the inner lip -- looks decent, but you'll never see it inside the door anyway.
