Modifications in my setup call for a move of the SVS to the back of the room. Will need a cable approx. 50 ft long to wire it correctly...
Anyone has anything like this and wants to sell?
Any recommendations on what/where to buy?

Thanks!!

I've seen some high-end homes use cable coax for long distance sub cables.

Try Blue Jeans Cable. they make some nice cables for the money, and have sub cables as long as you would need.
    Sony KDL-40V2500 HDTV, Rotel RSX-1067 Receiver, Sony BDP-S550 Blu-ray, Slim Devices Squeezebox, Polk RTi6, CSi3 & R15, DIY sub with Atlas 15

Thanks.....I think I'll go with bluejeans; they have up to 60 ft long and the price seems right...

You can also use speaker wire if you have LFE speaker leads on your receiver. Some folks on the Forum have had success with this setup, and even proclaimed better bass response than with the cable. If you have the LFE speaker leads, give it a try cable vs speaker wires with the short connection as a trail. 12 guage speaker wire is about $ 0.57/Ft.

How about ordering from Frank, at Signal Cable, you know, the guy that actually supports Club Polk with give aways at gatherings, and offers ONLY us a discount?

So how much is the discount? According to his site, he wants $170 + shipping for a 60 foot sub cable.

Standard length is 2 feet? Is it even possible to have a sub only 2 feet from the reciever or pre/pro?

I placed an order for a 60 ft at bluejeans; $ 86.75 shipped; I have a better cable from when I bought my SVS; I think it is a really good cable, but 45 ft is too short. Signal would be too expensive..... sorry Frank.

    Thanks to everyone for comments/suggestions.

It doesn't utilize the same type of cable or termination, but if you're simply looking for a cable to perform a generic function, you could actually get even cheaper. The price difference is due to an alternate cable type and subsequent termination.

Whether you choose BJC or Signal makes no difference to me personally; however I support those, who support our forum. Just like www.myesound.com(NEW) and www.oregondv.com(15% Nordost) ...perhaps we should just tell ppl we don't want discounts anymore.

I was rebuked by BJC a long time ago, when I approached them about the Cable Swap Program and/or a discount for members. Yes, perhaps it was premature, but we had 6 cables in rotation at that point and they balked at the discount idea. I still ordered cables from that company and made my own decision. BJC was limited in their offerings at that time, just FYI.

As an aside, Frank from Signal Cable chose to support an essentially unknown forum with a discount. 5% may not mean much in this current atmosphere, but it could be ZERO%. Frank and his crew at Signal have supported EVERY Polkfest with goods and product support from DAY ONE. I can only imagine what the personal cost is to send this stuff to the events, but again, it could be zero or a "Good Luck w/ the Polkfest". Frank started supporting Polkfest and the Forum BY HIMSELF...and he has a regular 9-5 occupation.

I digress....as you should always order cables within your budget, period. I'm a cable believer but I also have a budget and a limit. Cable theory gets out of hand at a certain point, and I simply don't subscribe to that marketing hype.

A prime example would be the MIT S1 vs S3....owned both, chose the S3 because I could not tell a bit of difference between either cable in my rig. There are others that are solid in the fact that the internal series improvements make a difference, there are graphs and charts to "prove" it, and others that just want the best of that particular series, with zero mindset to anything but owning the "best"....there's the dichotomy.

I don't have the time nor money to waste on products that make no changes in my rig, I work for a living.

We all perceive different things, in different ways, who can argue that?

    Mark,

I am sure I can get cheaper and even make a really cheapo myslef; I guess I am looking for some balance....not too bad, not too expensive....

I think it's great that some companies support the forum and provide discounts to members; just the fact that not everyone in the forum will always buy from them does not mean we don't want discounts anymore. :)

Sigal Cable and the discount is cool and all that, but it's hard to ignore 170.00+ vs. 90.00

I understand, just stating my opinion.

Hoosier - I'm just stating a fact that it's not the same type or brand of cable used in the construction. I should have put that in much clearer terms. Cost vs performance is an individual experience.

If it's a passive sub, then someone may use a monoblock and sit it right beside the sub. :)

Noel, that still doesn't get the signal from the pre/pro to the mono block amp, we're talking about interconnects, not speaker wire. ;) well I think we are anyways.

Doro, I hear ya man, not arguing quality and performance, or that Frank shouldn't get a little extra consideration. I am just saying SC is nearly twice the price for the cable, that is hard to ignore. If it were 5 10 20 dollar difference, I would say SC, but with an 80.00 difference in price for a LFE signal....

The real issue is the sub being in the back of the room now. Russ, a lightbulb just went off over Noel's heed.

Lex at www.catcables.com makes cable to order - specify your length and he will make it. Great quality stuff.
