I would like to hear about your experiences with using carpet spikes. I plan to set my SRS-2.3's in my downstairs family room which has a Berber carpet and padding over a concrete floor. I have not heard any speaker enclosure vibrations with my SDA-2's. There is a lot of mixed reviews on carpet spikes all over the web. I was interested to hear some feedback from Polk floorstanding speaker owners. Particuliarly of you have a configuration (carpet over concrete) similiar to mine.

Spiking my 2.3tl's made a big difference in tightening up the low end. Highly recommended.

I'd recommend using the bass brace. However, if you're going to use spikes, try these. www.myesound.com

I should add that spikes would be prefered over nothing at all as they will make a difference.

    First... Mars Hotel?

Second, if on carpet, spike them... also available at Home Depot.

Spike'm up to stable the speakers on carpet so you'll get even soundstage, focus and bass definitions. Highly recommended.

Thanks guys! I did check out the site Jesse suggested. They have some nice spikes. I did get the original Polk spikes with my 2.3's (still in the bag). I also got the braces. I intend to install those as well, after the speakers settle into the carpet with the spikes on.

Still waiting on the new tweeters from Polk. Polk only had four in stock, I needed six. Ken told me they should ship today. I do have all the Sonicaps and Mills resistors for the crossovers. I hope to complete the mods after Thanksgiving.

Brace that attach speaker to the wall for stability. Supplied by Polk wit the 1.2tl's and 2.3tl's... maybe a couple other models.

Spike size is whatever thread fits the feet of your speaker and are long enough to reach through your carpet and pad thickness to the floor.

The vintage Polks all used 10-24 thread for the feet. I'm not positive if the newer ones do.

Polk recommends using either the bass brace or the spikes with the 1.2TL and 2.3TL, but not both. In fact, they recommend the bass brace instead of the spikes due to the height of the cabinets and the multiple drivers mounted towards the top.

The newer ones (LSi, newer RTi) use 1/4" #20 for the threading.
