Digital Processing Reciever?

I am in the market for a new reciever. My speaker set up is rti70 - fronts, fx300i - surrounds, cs245i - center, and paradigm ps1200 - sub.
After reading in this forum, I think I am going to go with an HK reciever. I think these are the most beautiful recievers on the market. Anyway, I started looking at the new line up and saw these dpr recievers.
What is the difference between these and the other ? Is the price jump worth it? Do these sound different?
Also, I have been considering doing separates, but I do not know what brands to look at for the pre/pro. I am considering getting a cheaper HK as the pre/pro and getting separate amps. Will the amps change the sound of the reciever? My budget it $1000 max, preferably cheaper for used and or refurbished. That is either for a reciever only or for the separates total.
Sorry for jumping around.

Hi welcome to Club Polk utarch! I'm not familiar with the digital chip receivers from H/K, and I don't know if anyone on the threads even has one. I could be wrong. I suggest emailing or calling Harman Kardon's customer service dept. and asking them. Their service is 2nd to none.

I heard the current HK DPR receivers are an improvement over the previous line. They are generally smaller than "regular" receivers.
With current HKs, pre-outs are available starting in the 2xx (HK 230/235) line and up. All these receivers will make a solid pre/pro.
Although HKs have great power, a separate amp will help drive your speakers better.Receiver: harmankardon AVR235
Mains: polk R30
Center: polk CSi3
Rear Surrounds: polk R20
Subwoofer: polk PSW404
DVD: Panasonic DVD-S29
