PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
Vancouver, Canada Sept 30th, 2012 - Madonna concert  -
I decided on the knukonceptz and bought one
Next on my list, I need a 12 - 15 foot Digital Coax. It will be ran next to power cables... LOTS! along with wireless controlers ect. It has to be the best I can get for $75 max
Any Ideas would be great! It will be used to carry a Digital out from my Audigy 2ZS to my reciver.
Edit: I am liking these for my speaker wires for the fronts. What do you think? http://www.abtelectronics.com/scripts/site/site_product.php3?id=17327 -
let me know how the optical cable works out, i will be looking for one in the next few months.
as for your speaker cable, i cant comment on the type 2 but i am running type 4 and am very happy with it. i would check ebay and audiogon though, cause i think you can definately do better than that price, i paid $60 for a 10ft pair of type 4. if you are willing to spend a little more, audio advisor is running a number of ebay auctions for audioquest bedrock cable that looks really nice!
one other thing, since it is much easier to pass a digital signal than an analog signal, i would focus more on the speaker wire you are going to use than the digital cables. it looks like you want to spend $75 on a coax cable and $50 on your speaker cable. to me that is backwards, you want to get much better speaker wire and not spend so much on the coax. -
where did you buy your type 4's?

Look at DH Labs, both optical and coax. Excellent and affordable.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

i got mine on ebay, looks like there are a few auctions for type 4 and type 6 for reasonable prices, i also saw a 10ft pair of type 4 go on audiogon last week for $65. -
Calrad 55-502 or 55-504 series work well too. Remember, the only thing that you are really paying for is how flexible the cable will be and how well the end piece fits/holds up. You will be surprised how flexible most optical cables are. I have one that makes a 160 degree bend in less then 1/4 inch which works perfectly fine. As long as they meet your needs, there is no reason to buy more expensive ones in the "short" distances we are talking about (anything less then 50m is short for optical cables).
Please don't equate higher cost = higher quality. Especially in the audio cable industry. Its the only place which will sell you a 5 foot long copper cord that costs as much as its total weight in platinum. These guys really did invent "alchemey", they just don't want you to know that...
