No stunt men, no strings...

This movie amazed me. I'm a HUGE Jackie Chan buff, and I kinda dig Jet Li..especially after Unleashed. I would pit this cat against either of them any day of the week.

Tony Jaa is the main characters name. This cat is smooth, accurate, and devastating. Some of the moves he does are so non-conventional that during a real fight, you wouldn't see them coming..at all. And they would actually work in a real fight situation! When's the last time you saw somebody take a full torso blow from someone's thigh?!

The movie is well done, for a kung fu flick. *although he's a Thai fighter* It has a high sense of morality, and some interesting messages lying beneath. Some of the things Tony Jaa does are flashy, which takes away from the real life aspect of the movie..while other things he does are so powerful and non-conventional, you'll get use out of that rewind button thingy. Wasn't really watching for PQ and I watched it on a dinky 2 channel setup so I can't comment on either sound or PQ.

For a flick of this sort, I give 4 outta 5 stars. And dare I say, this guy has great potential to be, if he's not already, the next Jackie Chan..which is a big deal for me to say.

I saw this movie and although i do agree he's a great kung fu artist,this movie's too gymicky. Although his style is unique, i did not have to see each of his stunts from 3 different angles. It slowed the movie to a crawl.

You're right, the style was too gimmicky. Tony didn't need all that jazz. You're exaggerating a bit, it didn't show ALL of his moves from 3 angles. It was only 3 or 4 that they did the differen't angles on and it was only 2 angles. While it did affect the pace, it didn't slow it down that much. Granted, this isn't a buy *which I should have indicated earlier* but it's a surefire rental for a fighter buff.

I think it's so interesting to see a Thai fighter showing his skills. Usually it's Kung Fu fighters showing off.

I can't wait to see what he does next!

I believe given the right material, he might be the next bruce lee.

Next bruce lee? He's fluid, but he's not THAT fluid. He's fast, but he's not THAT fast.
If he were the next Bruce, he'd be making waves far beyond this little thread.
Bruce was in a league of his own.
The only person comparable on film was Morehei Ueshiba, O-Sensei. The founder of Aikido..and he was beyond Bruce.
True masters they were. We've yet to see, on film, anyone who comes close to either. Especially O-Sensei.

Just watched this movie. It has the best fight scenes I've ever seen. Phenomenal.

Jackie, Bruce, Jet -- ha ha. Kinda silly to talk about who would win in a real fight, but Tony Jaa is more entertaining than all of them, IMO, and this is merely his first starring role.

Wow ?! To imply Tony Jaa or any other "actor" is better than Bruce is almost blasphemous !

Jaa is only a stunt double turned actor while Bruce was the real deal. He brought so much to the table and broke down barriers for the likes of Li, Chan and Tony Jaa. Even Jaa lists the "3 dragons" as his idols.

More entertaining? Bruce has more charisma in his pinky than Tony Jaa ! Li and Chan are already entertainment legends in their own right.

Is he better than Chan or Li? Well he's only treading in the same territory of Chan and Li's earlier works.

Too early to tell with one film. Promising- yes, but it is only one film.

have owned this one for quite some time. I love it, but have to say the camera repeats and angles get retarded after a while. But the first time you see it, at least I did, I had to rewatch some of the fight scenes just because of his moves. I've always been a fan of Muy Thai though. He'll be great but he needs to get a few more movies under his belt.

BTW, just to bad Li will be retiring from Kung Fu movies...

I didn't imply that Tony is "better" than Bruce. I said he was more entertaining, i.e., more fun to watch on screen.

Personally, I never liked Bruce Lee's movies. He was too arrogant, both on and off the camera, just like Van Damme and Segal.

When you look at Lee's movies, they weren't that great in terms of story, dialogue, or direction. Rather it was Lee's persona and charisma that has carried his movies!!

Arrogant? In a broad terms yes, but you could also say confident, even a cocky presence he had. Qualities you don't find in actors today unless they can back it up (which Lee could) !
