400 grand kinda defeats the purpose of the Camaro. It was supposed to be the working man's Corvette.

Id still love to have one tho. I love Camaros, all years and models and was very pissed off when GM pulled the plug on them.

I owned a Camero years ago, but not with 700HP. Punch that and it will probably not even stay on the ground.

Yeah right. I just adds another, lol.

When I saw the pic I was like, man, that hood is UGLY, that crease down the side is WAAAY too pronounced, and those wheels are UGLY!!! BUT, for 700hp from a streetable, natrually aspirated V8, I think I could live with the looks!

I remember seeing some models of the Baldwin edition of the 60's Camaros. Look sweet.

This is precisely why Ford has kicked the Camaro's **** in production since the beginning. Chevy doesn't know how to produce for the public anymore.

    They just copy PT Cruisers....................

What do you mean they don't know how to produce for the public anymore? What's that got to do with another company making Camaros?

And I HATE the new HHR. Most definitely a copy of the PT cruiser; a bad one, at that. And whatever they're calling their new 'van'.....ewwwww, they're UGLY!!!

Chevy had plenty of concept cars to do there own version of a retro Camaro that would sell, and instead of keeping a line going, they chose to drop it. Ford could have dropped the Mustang in the first of this decade when it got stagnant, but chose to do Cobras to keep it alive.

Does anyone know if Chevy still plans on doing the retro Camaro. They are chasing their tails at this point and copying Ford. Yes, the new HHR is a terrible copy of the PT! I don't know what their problem is. I am a die hard Chevy guy, but they have depended on the Tahoes and Subs to be their bread and butter for soo long it seems. They have lost sight with a lot of their other products, and with the higher gas prices fullsize SUV sales have really dropped. I just wish they would throw some stuff out there like Chrysler has lately with the 300, Charger, Magnum, etc. to say hey, we are still here and we can still kick ****. It is things like V8 Montes and Impalas that sound great wearing an SS badge, but then you see they are FWD  . It is stuff like that that just kills me with Chevy!

Auto makers don't make $$$ on cars, they make $$$ on financing. I agree that if Chevy doesn't wakeup, Chrysler and Ford wil be the only domestic performance choices.

Great post, polkorolla. My sentiments exactly.

I read an article in a magazine about 3 weeks ago that said the new Camaro is going to happen, but that was just one article, and from a magazine I have never seen before. So, I'm not sure, but I'll keep my fingers crossed!!

I had an '82 Z-28. Not much power, but a fun car. Bought it new and sold it with 200K miles on it 14 years later. I loved that car. Alpine all around, 10" subwoofers in 1987. The car was a natural for big speakers and amps.

I had a '79 with a 350 and AT. It was a boat anchor...but then everthing was during that era. I sold it and bought a Datsun 280ZX. After that I spent a few years with a VW GLI (needed a family car) before I went back to Mustangs. GM never did get the F-bodies right IMO.

If I was going to spend $300,000 to $400,000 for a Baldwin-Motion Camaro, I would get one of the originals....

No way. They are up there in Yenko and Hemi range. I'd guess $150,000+ to start... There is currently a Motion Chevelle for sale in NY for $165,000 and the Camaros usually get more than the Chevelles.

I disagree with the comment that GM never got the F-bodies right. The early models were right, back when car enthusiasts still had some say-so in the company. Lately it just takes GM a looooong time to get stuff right. Everything. By the time they had gotten the F-body right, the market had gone away. Yeah Mustangs continued to sell, but not to the same type of buyer that they were selling to in the 80's and early 90's. The Camaro buyers moved to trucks and SUV's, and the Mustang-- well it turned into a girl car :p

In high school i had a 72' Camaro.. with either a 302 or 305 or 307, can't remember but it was fast and light on it's feet. i blew the engine though. to date that's been my favorite car.

Chevy made a very select few 302 Z-28s also, but it was 67-69.

Very rare car and it was designed to race against Boss 302 Stangs in SCCA/Trans Am races.
