Comcast provided me with a DVR box for receiving digital/HD broadcasts but the box can only store up to 15 hours of HD material and 60 hours of non-HD material. Is there any kind of storage device I can buy at a reasonable cost and connect it to my current box/system so that I can transfer/save more recorded material? If so, can you point me to some specific products?

it costs more but i think they have a HD Tivo now... but then you have to pay for the service.

i think Panasonic and Pioneer both have DVR products with DVD burners included but not sure if they do HDTV.

which box is it? The Sci. Atl. 8300 box has an external SATA port... depending on your cable company it might be activated. Try to find the manual for your box.

I believe it is the Motorola Advanced HD Set Top DCT6208. I was not provided with a manual for the box.

Looks like I found the answer from an FAQ on Motorola's site for their product.....damn!

How do I archive my recordings on an external hard drive?
This feature is not currently supported. This future feature is controlled by software which can be downloaded by your cable service provider when the software company provides the update. As an alternate solution for archiving standard resolution recordings today, you can use your VCR.

Yep, sounds about right. Time warner is starting to roll out external drives for like $10 a month or something...
