I might be interested in one of the plate amps.
I’m running the 500 watt model on one svs cs-ultra, would the 1000 watt be to much juice for this sub?
Somebody with skills weigh in on this for me.

The plate amps are 1000 watt if using a 4 ohm, 500 watt using 8 ohm. see the complete spec at Partsexpress.com

You can never have too much of an amp for any sub. This seems like a really good deal. The titanics at that price ain't nothing to sneeze at either.

not for nothin, but if you have the cabinets for those, does the SVS outperform it that much?

These dayton drivers could easily be made to be every bit as good (if not better) than any SVS, except maybe the B4+. Why not just build new cabinets for them? Assuming you have a few tools and available space for some pretty good size enclosures.

What about these subs makes you want to get rid of them?

A 1000 watt amp and 15" driver and some equalization could net you a smallish sub with low f3. Great price on the amp and speakers. At $400 new for one of the amps, it's a hell of a deal! I just wish I had the time for the project.

    Good luck

dholmes this amp has a serious problem.
It will drop into stand by mode even though it is receiving a signal.
I own the smaller version of this amp and it has never done this.
Switched back to the smaller amp and no problems.
Looking for a refund here bro.

I don't think that's a serious problem. I've read about that problem with a lot of plate amps. The signal from your receiver just isn't strong enough all the time to keep the plate amp on. Most people just manually turn the power on and off. That or try boosting the LFE level up on your receiver, see if that helps.

Yep, I have that problem with my PE plate amp at home. The LFE signal out of my AVR isn't strong enough to trigger the 'auto-on' feature. So, I just keep it on all the time. My LFE output isn't adjustable.

(Edit: if that isn't the problem, contact PE. They have excellent customer service.)

I just installed one of the 1000watt PE plate amps in a 9ft3 enclosure along with a Peavey 18" Lowrider. We hooked it up in a very large room (to support a live band), and it works VERY well.

One difference to note, if you're used to smaller plate amps... the 1000watt amp will NOT operate to full potential using only one of the line-level inputs. You HAVE to use a Y-splitter and feed the signal to both L and R. It isn't like that on my smaller plate amp - I can feed either the L or both with the same results. This difference was very audible when we first hooked the church sub into the system. We didn't have a splitter. Ran to the Shack to get one, put the input to both sides, and ahhhhhh... there we go.

The other thing about the 1000watt amp - no speaker-level inputs. You have to use either the dual line-level or the LFE input.

I received a 1000 watt Parts Express sub amp ( looks and works like new )from Dholmes today, it was shipped very quickly and was packed well. He even shipped the power cord and screws in a different bag. The entire process from payment to having it on my front door took 5 working days, that is how everything should be done.

    Thanks very much Dholmes
