Hello Club Polk!!

I'm new here and would like your opinions on this setup(7.1)? Currently have The RTi8's as my mains up front with a Csi5 ceter, and would like to use the RM7300's as my rears and satellites. The 7300's will be mounted on the cealing in the living room. The cealing is approximately 8 ft. high, curious if my surrounds and rears are going to be faint as they are mounted so high? Also... is there going to be a matching problem(compromise) with the different speakers used as my rears and satellites? Trying to go with the on-wall mount speakers due to kids. I appreciate all the help!

Setup looks fine to me. If your system is calibrated right, you should have a well balanced system. I'm not very familiar with Pioneer receivers, but can you set individual crossover points in the receiver? If you can, set the fronts to a lower crossover point(40-60 Hz) and the rears to a higher one(maybe 100 Hz).

Do you have a calibration disc and a sound level meter to calibrate everything?

BTW, welcome to the forum. You have a nice setup. Enjoy it.

Thanks for such a fast response!! I'm just also worried that the rears and satellites don't match my fronts? Is there ever a problem with speaker matching?? Thanks guys...

depends. give her a try and listen for yourself. if you feel the need to do more rti upgrading, then do so.

looks like they both use pretty much the same drivers so i dont see a problem with that.

you have the makings of a very nice system...let us know how it sounds when you have it all set up!

There can be problems sometimes, but with your particular setup, they should blend reasonably well. If I remember right, those RM speakers have softdome tweeters, similar to the RTi series.

Also, rear speakers don't make that much of a difference since they are primarily for amibient sounds anyway.

edit: I keep writing as other people are posting. At least we have most of the same thoughts.

    BIZILL-

I'm purchasing the rears and surrounds due to on-wall placement. The only concern for me is the 7300's cost me more than both the fronts and center! Ouch!!
