This Harmony remote software is doing all kinds of funky **** to my computer. Can't de-install it, can't shut it down or remove it from the systray without it reseting my computer...arrrgghhhhhhh.
Anybody else having this problem? I HATE buggy software, there may be a Harmony remote NIB on the Flea Market, still sealed if Logitech can't iron this crap out. Cheap, by the way.

I dunno. Haven't had any problems with mine, although I think I went into the registry and made it so it doesn't start at boot up.
-
When I try to uninstall it in Control Panel (Add/remove software), as soon as I click "remove" my system resets. Log back in, and there it is, still on the system. I've run thru Task Manager and I don't see it listed as running in the background....
it acts like a damn virus....errrrrrrrrrrrSource: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
Never had any issue; I do have the monitor icon permanently on, but it does not bother me._________________________________________________

I haven't had any problems with mine. I've got it where it doesn't begin at startup, so it doesn't seem to affect my computer at all. I haven't tried to uninstall. Give Harmony a call or email. They have decent customer support, so they should be able to walk you through it.

Did you by chance try to uninstall it a different way before trying the Add/Rem program feature?
Maybe step through the motions of "installing" it again, then try the Add/Rem programs. -
I didn't have that problem either.
I went into add remove followed the steps what happened I don't know but once I downloaded the new updates everything was just fine. -

No, I used Control Panel's Add/Remove;
I'll try this tonight, reload and maybe it'll fix the glitch...Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -

It's not showing up there (surprisingly). That was my first move last night. I also don't see it on running processes in task manager either...
When I click "remove" in CP, it starts to bring up a dialog and looks like its doing something, then the computer resets. I tried 7 or 8 times last night, everytime it would force a reboot right in the middle of doing its thing...very strange.
I'm a computer tech with 15 years experience, but this one is pushing my buttons. I ran Reg Mechanic, ran Spybot S&D and Adaware (there are rumors that logitech software lays down some pretty hideous spyware). Nothing, all 3 programs came back with nada problems.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -

I would ask you give it some time you will not be disapointed. Not sure if they can help, but they are supposed to have amazing CS. You may wish to give em a call. -

This would be my next step as well, even before I talked to customer service.
I don't have my laptop right in front of me with the software installed, so I can't help anymore right now.
What version of Windows are you using right now?Tschüss

Yep, thats what I'll do tonight. Try fully installing again then removing...

I just removed the software from my media server PC this past weekend. I was cleaning up all software and processes that weren't needed on that particular box. It was removed without issue. Even did a reboot to confirm. Nothing. There is no trace of it.
Try the re-install/uninstall method. You may have something missing. Did you exit the process first? This soometimes causes things to not uninstall.

I exited the systray icon, then went to Add/Remove. Actually, the first time I tried to hit "exit" on the systray icon, it made my system shutdown; when I went back in and did it a 2nd time, it exited without incident. I then removed the shortcut from the "Start up" folder, rebooted and tried to remove. That's when the problems started...
I wanted to remove it and do a fresh install to because of the strange behavior with the systray icon---well, now it shuts the system down (actually reboots) everytime I try ti uninstall it.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
Steve,
Have you looked at the installed software directories and files in a Command Prompt (DOS box)? I do my best slash and burn in DOS. -
Yep, I'm a DOS-hound too. Shows everything there that was initially loaded in the ~program files\Logitech\Harmony Remote\*.* area. I thought about manually deleting, but then you end up with orphaned registry entries and files all over system32 and win directories...I'm anal.
I think top-loading and re-trying it will probably fix it, we'll see what happens tonight.
Just thought some here may have experienced this (there's cases on the net) and maybe knew a quick fix, you know---being lazy in other words....
FWIW, there are some issues with this sw and some ATI graphic cards when set to full hardware acceleration setting...just an FYI.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
i'm not afraid of system registry. i'd go in and manually delete anything to do with harmony as well as the rest of the hard drive. then restart computer and try installing again....this comes with the typical warning, of course: back up your registry first. i never do, though.

If that doesn't work, we can easily kill it in the registry so it won't fire up on its own, keep us posted.
-
In the registry, go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/
and look for references to it in:
Run
RunOnce
RunOnceEx
and delete them. -
or just use the find and find next feature to search while in your registry, just in case it may have posted its trail anywhere else.

Registry hacks and manual deletion will be my last step. You still have the potential to leave behind a ton of orphaned files when you don't use the programs uninstall routine, thats what I'm trying to avoid. I'm pretty sure reloading wiill probably fix the problem...I'll keep you posted...Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

Well, got up this morning and thought I'd make on last attempt at uninstalling before doing the reload/uninstall routine.....it worked!

I think it was because the computer kept "warm" booting; I don't think I did a cold boot and shut it down completely---some glitch was probably residing in memory or a registry re-read wasn't occuring.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

I've had trouble too on our Windows XP machine. But it seems to work fine on my father's Macintosh.
