How does one use on of these things? And how do I hook it to my pc?

    no one? So far I have read that it can be used to act as an external touch screen control for the HK recivers. But I cant figure out how...

    you hook it to your pc using a rs232 cable (serial), then use a terminal program to issue commands to the HK and query its status. How? You gotta get the protocol from HK. Good luck there... they're not proprietary or anything, but for some reason, companies are pissy about giving them out.

    HK, however, does give its command codes to companes like creston and AMX who make automation products & the touch screen controls you mention. you might be able to download their database and reverse engineer it from there.

    I'm a little surprised you haven't been able to find the info on HK's web site. If it's not there they apparently don't want to support it for the average consumer. I was able to find it easy enough for my receiver on the Yamaha site. There is a software download to support the features. The software is mainly for installers doing a custom installation at it states.
