Hi
Just bought my first Polk Speakers to go with my existing amp and cd player. Both Sony, 400 DVD player and a 7.1 AV Reciever Rated at 100w RMS.
I have RT100's as the front and main speakers, FXi50's for surround and an LSiC for the centre channel.
I will be getting a sub next month along with a pair of rears.
The question I have is - If I wall mount the centre, surround and rear speakers, what would be the optimum height?
The room is rather large, 60 feet by 30 feet with a cathedral ceiling that rises to 20 feet....It's good for parties... The screen is in, yes, in the fireplace at on end.
I would like to keep the sound area smallish with the seating area around 12 - 15 feet from the screen.
Thanks
Steve

Well in a normal situation you would usually have your center at ear level, just below pointing up to ear level, or just higher and pointing down to ear level. As for the surrounds, in a normal room usually about 3 feet higher than ear level. I'm not quite sure how you would do this in a room of that size but those are the average / normal ways to set them up. Maybe someone else has some more experiance with rooms of these size...

Hello is the 3 feet higher recommendation to the top of the speaker or the bottom?

Put a PM out to Mantis he is a custom installer and could probably give you some sound advice on getting things rolling.
