RTi8's, 10's or 12's

I was originally dead set on having RTi12's up front on HT system but it seems like they might not be the best choice withought the money for a seperate amp for them. I will be running a Harman Kardon AVR-635 in a 15 X 15 foot room. I am starting to think that the 12's would be overkill and still might not sound all that great withought a tight sub. So now I am considering between the 8's and the 10's and just forgetting about the 12's. Do you guys think the 10's will be easier to push than the 12's or not noticable. I dont think the 8's would produce hardly any base at all and might leave it a little hollow for HT up front. I am using RTi6's as rear surrounds in a 5.1 setup. Just want some opinions on wether the 10's are worth the extra $$$$ over the 8's.

Which ever you choose you need a sub. There is no way any of those speakers running off you receiver will compare to a sub with built in amp, you are compromising the sound and may damage your gear.

You will need a good sub for HT anyway; once you have a good sub, the 8's will give you all you need.

    Edit: Willow typed faster....:)

    8's and a sub.

or if you feel that the 8's sound too bright then try out the 10's and a sub. Some here believe that the 8's sound brighter than the 10's and 12's. And yeah the 10's are easier to drive than the 12's.

I would go with the 8's, sub, and a seperate amp for the 8's. If you can't afford the 8's and a seperate amp, I would look into another set of 6's with an amp. I used to have 6's as fronts (crossed over at 60Hz) and when i added a Niles SI-2125 (from crutchfield.com), the difference was huge.
    Speakers: LSi9 x 2, LSic, LSiFX x 2, Velodyne HGS-15
    Amps & Power: Rockford Fosgate T8004 x 3, Cascade Audio APS-55 power supplies x 5, and 1 farad capacitor.
    Electronics: Denon 3806, Toshiba HD-A1, & Sony KDL46XBR2
Accessories: Anti-IC interconnects, 8 Mondo Traps from Realtraps, and Salamander furniture.

hmmm...separate amp for the 8's; maybe it is a good idea, but I have mine directly from my Denon 3803 and must say I am not even thinking on upgrading...and believe me...I like to upgrade :)

I also agree with using a separate amp for the fronts, the 8's in this case. My Elite M-10X is not a huge amp (100 watts x 2) but does make a noticeable difference with my RTi70's.

Let your receiver power your center and surrounds. Less stress on the receiver will equal better performance.

    Just my two cents.
