    Excellent Mike! Nice job.

    Rifle only here.... but right now it's still way too warm here. Very, very unusual for this time of year. And way too many leaves still on the trees. As a matter of fact right now we're having a bad electrical storm! Raining like mad! This is after already having two devestating snow storms!!! And it went right back to early fall weather. This should be another snow storm and all the leaves should be long gone. Go figure.

    Nice buck! I haven't had time to bowhunt here in IL or at my farm in IA this season. Where in MO are you? I'll be hunting deer in the Auxvasse, Mexico, Bachelor area in a couple of weeks.

    Ya know, it's bad enough that I know that there are some who get a kick out of hunting defenseless animals but I REALLY DO NOT need to see pictures of the poor sensesly slaughtered creature. :(

    Thanks guys,I live just south of Chillicothe,straight West of Mexico...

    Today was my last day to bowhunt before opening weekend of our firearms season...I just could'nt pass on a perfect opportunity...

    You know,I did search on this forum before posting,and found threads on bowhunting whitetail with pics attached by Dr. Spec...believe me,i did not intend to offend anyone...and I apoligize for that...

    I guess gazing at semi-nude women is appropriate on this forum and not offensive to anyone?

    Simple. Don't look and don't participate.
    You're right. You don't need to see it. You don't even have to understand. And we (yes we, the some , try millions of us) don't need to hear it either.

    Meh, we've posted far more offensive things than dead animals around here.

    We're all animals anyways. And at least you used a bow... seems like less of an unfair advantage :D

    point for point, the looks of that rack he coulda very well defended itself.. had it seen that arrow coming.

    Cathy - with all due respect, you knew what the thread and attachment most likely was about when you opened it. Once you have participated in fair chase hunting, you would understand that the animals are far from defenseless. The sense of their surroundings and impending danger combined with their survival instinct can only be explained by millions of years of evolution and the hand of a higher power. It is we humans that are defenseless and have challenges adapting to our changing environment. Those of us who like to hunt respect the activities you participate in that we find objectionable, and all we ask is that you show the same respect to us.

    If you ever get the chance to watch a big cat (i.e. mountain lion) hunt, it will teach you most everything you need to get through life.

    I Used to do archery myself, about 10 years ago, i had a black douglas special recurve, it had a well crafted rosewood riser and was all hand made, that bow done me well, i used to shoot wooden arrows, this (in my country) was called traditional, i have shot in a few animal competitions but they we'er only foam aminal targets, still good fun though.

    Yup, most in my family will sit around the dinner table eating steak, chicken and lamb chops and talk about how horrible hunting is. speechless-smiley-034.gif

    If you eat meat you cant talk smack about hunters. Trophy hunting or just killing for sport I too find a little offensive but hunting for food is as primal and natural a behavior as there is and there is nothing wrong with it.

    My first bow was Bear 'Kodiac" a short recurve,I used to shoot cedar shafts also,until I had a friend of mine have one crack and break into on him,good thing he was using an armguard...

    I used to shoot ALOT of 3-D,and ALOT of indoor targets,and then,well,I bought my first set of Polks

    I don't hunt but I did shoot recurve for a while but I stopped because I couldn't commit three nights a week to it anymore. I shot indoor... I think my arrows were easton platinum's but my first robin hood was done with my easton jazz's ;)

    Turkeys with a bow,now that is a challange!!! I've missed 2 different birds over the years...

    I hunt with small portable stands,usually set about 12'-14' up...

    He offered me a perfect 20 yard shot that I just could'nt pass up.

    I've bowhunted for three years and have yet to get a deer. I had a couple come close but not offer a good shot, so I didn't shoot.

    i shot with out an arm gaurd to start off with, the instructors said it would give me better form, ( they didnt mention the sore arm though ) but they must have done something right as i ended up with 6 british records for the under 18's traditional style,(sorry to brag :o ) i had a great intrest in it for about 4 years and went all over wales to different field events. We had an awsome club "Pentref Bowmen" aw those were the days, there was heaps of land and terrain which made each target a challenge and heaps of fun:)

    Archery is a great sport,whether you enjoy competitive shooting...Hunting,or both...A great sport for young and old "thats me" alike.

    I haven't taken a rifle afield for many years,the challange of Bowhunting is unsurpassed...

    Patience is tough sometimes,I'm fortunate to live in an area that is RICH with wildlife...the very best thing to do is to pass on a shoot,if it's not right... Your patience will be rewarded one day,don't give up on the sport.

    Anytime I go out,I am satisfied just to be amongst mother nature when daybreak comes...it's is most peaceful,serene place I can think of.

    All this talk about archery kind of makes me want to get back into it...

    As for arm guards, I always used one. I started out with a cheapo big leather one but soon moved to a thin plastic one that doesn't get in the way. The only probem with it being so small was that you had to make damn sure it was placed on your arm properly. I rarely hit my arm but when I did I was quite glad for that guard ;)

    That's why I still go out... I don't have to shoot. It's real stress releif just to get out into the woods and chill... spiritually and literally! :D
