which amp shall i use

i have a denon avc-a1sra 170 watts per channel amplifier and it is 8 ohms. i was interested in buying lsi 25 speakers and centre and surrounds to complete my home theatre all from polk audio but the speakers are 4 ohms and my amp is 8 ohms can you please suggest what should i do shall i buy a new amp or they can be played on this amp...

    If the Denon is rated for 8 ohms only its not a good idea to use it on 4 ohm speakers.

    After looking at the specs for that receiver(as far as I can tell, it is comparable to the 5803-very capable receiver), I think you would be fine running the LSi25's. Most times, you would not want to run the LSi's on a receiver. The receiver you have "should" be an exception because of its amplifier section. It is a step above the 3805 amplifier wise, and several people have run the LSi's off that receiver with little problem.

    With all of that said, the 25's will shine even more with a separate amplifer. They need power to really sound their best. The receiver you have has pre-amp outputs, so you might look at getting a separate amplifier down the road. Something with 200-500 watts would be a good match for them. Just remember to get a high quality amplifer that has a provides plenty of current(amps).

    As a precaution, you might not crank the Denon up to concert levels. The receiver might go in to protect mode if it being asked to deliver more than it can produce.

    thanxa lot for ur concern sir but the amplifier is not a reciever but an av amplifier as on the site goto the site of denon for singapore. if not this amplifiert which one would u suggest in the range of round 3000$ us. please take in account that i am in india and there is just polk audio retail counter in my state so please help. is it necessary for me to buy one amp and one reciever or can i do with just one amp. please suggest which amnp shall i use
