Wats up i need a serious answer. I lost my last set of subs so im lookin for some new ones. My mind is set on either the JL w3v2d4,the alpin type s SWS 1242D,the Polk mm2124, or the kenwood kfc W3009. I got a kenwood 800 watt amp. LET ME KNOW on a seriouse note.

The Momo is a superior sub to any of those listed.

Which Kenwood amp do you have? Is that 800 RMS at 2 ohms or 800 peak or what?

The MM2104 will only handle 300, actually none of those subs will handle much over 300.

kenwood kac-7201 im sure it max handles 800
i wouldnt have to worry about blowing the subs bridged out?
should i get the polk mm2124 in a svc or dvc or does it really matter

I cant find the 7201, only the 7202 and if thats the one youre talking about its not 800 watts but 450x1 bridged.

If thats not the one its still not 800 watts. The max or peak ratings are worthless. Theyre an overexaggerated number used to sell products. The continuous or RMS rating is all that matters as that is the amount of usable power you can expect from it.

Either way, it seems that amp is too big for any of those subs really.

    um... huh?

    for reference:
    MM2124: 400W
    12W3v2: 300W
    SWS1242D: 300W

i, like mac, would choose the mm2124; what are the power ratings of your amp? i.e. it makes X watts at 4 ohms RMS by Y channels, and A watts at 2 ohms RMS by B channels... fill in x,y,a, and b for us...

    Speak English much?

Ill take a stab at this anyway.

If your amp is 460x1 at 2 ohms and you run 2 SVC MM2124's then each one will get 230.

you can use 2 DVC mm2124s and get 230 to each by wiring each sub in series, then the two together in parallel, and bridging the amp... or you could take it a little easier on the amp, use 400 watts into a single sub...

yeah, one svc mm2124 will take most of that amp bridged

A SVC can only be wired as 4 ohms so each sub would be getting 150. Now if you went with a single sub you could wire the amp 4 ohms mono which would be 460 which is a little steep for that sub but can handle it if you use common sense with the gains and volume.

is it really so painful to spell out 'to'?

and no, not necessarily - you won't be driving the subs near their potential, and you will likely end up overdriving the amp... as long as you pay attention, one SVC sub will be lighter, just as loud, and easier on the amp as two DVC subs...

Nope. 460 watts into one sub is going to sound pretty much identical to 230 watts into 2 subs.

If want more "bump" you need to invest in another amp. Get a true 800 watt Class D amp and then run a pair of MM2124 SVC's. Thatll be a real world 800 watts and be quite a bit of "bump"
